Alina Zagitova

GUYS, GUYS, GUYS....

what a fascinating story
i also have one story about the moment when i realized that i'm a fan of her..
i was in Nepal last autumn, trekking in Himalayas on my way to Annapurna base camp(my first trekking ever).. i knew that she will skate at Cup of China exactly during my trip and most likely i won't be able to even see the results(not even talking about the videos), so... when i was going from Dovan to Deurali, i guess, almost at the end of the day, near Deurali i suddenly saw that there is a 3G signal!! in the middle of f**ing nowhere, almost 3000m altitude!!1 nothing less of a miracle! i couldn't believe my eyes, because there was no 3G even at lower altitudes.. should i even say what i did first? of course i checked the results of the CoC, and i discovered that she has won just recently! i was so relieved that day.. may be that was one of the little things that gave me strength to finish this trekking, because i got sick at the very first day due to my carelessness and the entire trekking was quite hard because of that(imagine walking over 100km in mountains being sick)..

ah those memories, rewatching her free skate in hotel in Kathmandu at the end of the trip, with the sh**ty internet, in the country where 99.9% of the people probably never even heard of such thing as figure skating... priceless

Another interview (so many goodies - what a day! :)) https://fsrussia.ru/intervyu/3933-a...oe-katanie-i-katatsya-v-svoe-udovolstvie.html

She's pleased with her performance but there's room for improvement, she wants to skate more free/less tense - with time it will come. When asked about the rule changes, she said the rules always change and it is normal. (what a diplomat!)

when asked about 3a or quads she replied that her main goal for now is to skate clean and she will think about quads later.

:ghug::ghug: Thank you for your beautiful post, I hope everything went right with your client afterwards. If not, you should show him a video with Alinka, I think it will melt his heart and he'll be thankful forever for showing him such a mesmerizing artwork :biggrin:

Just give me time and I'll get him into figure skating, I can count on Alina's sweet touch to make him calm and happy. Hey, it already worked its bit of magic on Judge 4 today, my client will be an easier case.

You're story is amazing. And let me stop for a moment here and bow to you, you went to Annapurna.....I dream of seeing it (the Himalayas in fact). What an adventure!!

With Alina everything gets better, right? It's amazing how she is so young and we can already time many stories in our lives by what happened to her. She is part of our story!!!

Alina is so good at answering questions...at first I thought at first Eteri must offer special Q&A coaching sessions to teach her skaters how to deal with nosy journalists, but after seeing all these interviews I think it is just Alina's natural poise. :)

I love the part where Alina's struggling with trophy, flowers, diploma, medal and the presenting lady and then Mai try to help her

Or at the end of the ceremony. She looked like "OK - now how do I get down from this podium????"

On a more serious note, I was so happy that 7+ months later, Alina finally got to hear her national anthem and see her flag raised at a medal ceremony.

Here's what I want to know: what language is she and Mai speaking? I saw somewhere that said that most Russian ladies do speak English, but are too shy to use it interviews. I remember Alina was speaking to Tessa Virtue during the Olympic gala, too, and I doubt Tessa speaks Russian. So

:thank:

I read somewhere that she speak a little bit, and she want to hire a teacher to be able to speak with other skaters more. I think she understand more than she is able to speak. She spend a lot of time at the competition when the most people speak english, so she probably undersand .. e.g. I understand french more better than I'm able to answer. In this occasion she ask Mai first ..it's much easier, you can choose the words, the simple one ..the harder part is usually must to interact to somebody else.

I'm feeling emotional about this gold medal.

After last week's frustration over the travel cancellation and all the subsequent conspiracy theories and snide remarks from the crazies on stan twitter.

After seeing her tears at the Russian Test Skates and having to listen to TAT say Alina didn't have competitive fire in her eyes. :rolleye:

After a really long off season where Alina had to deal with growing 3.5 inches or 7 cm in addition to breaking in new boots. Both of these things are notorious for derailing jump technique and causing problems for skaters.

After watching Alina doing her best to avoid getting dragged into the never-ending Eteri v. Zhenya drama that seemed to go on for years. :slink:

After seeing her finish 5th at Worlds after not skating her best. :sad21:

After watching her not get the appreciation we felt she deserved from her own country after winning the Olympics.

This little Nebelhorn gold medal just feels so damned sweet!

because one "thumbs up" from me just wasn't enough.

27:10 Alina said— mm,sweets)) Eteri —yeah,sweets ..
where is this sweets now ?

 I'll cherish this moment...Alina and her love for marmalade - like she calls those jelly soft candies, and for jam!

After carrying that huge trophy around, looking like a proud mama, she can eat whatever she wants.

Your post made me all emotional again....

THIS times 100000000

:thank:

Nebelhorn officials: Congratulations, Alina! You've proven you're the champion. Now, prove you're a champion again by juggling a huge silver trophy, a glass plaque, flowers, and a diploma, all the while still leaving a hand free to shake hands with our officials.

Because that's clearly what champions have to do.

:laugh2:

:laugh::laugh::laugh:

I was checking ISU twitter and I'm a little bit confused. I know JGP is bigger event, but still - not one single post about new world record ..it's probably the only one sport federtion who don't care about world records .. I'm just imagining somebody broke Usain Bolt's 100m record in other event while Diamond league date and IAAF will be silent.:scratch2::noshake::laugh:
