Alina and Daniil would make a great Ice Dance team, maybe she can get him back from retirement.
Hereās Daniil at it back in the day (check out the twizzle sequence, so like the one he did with Alina)
https://youtu.be/-81yn8IN0hM
Side note: their blades are so close together during this routine I got scared just looking at it. I know Ice Dance blades are shorter and all that but still...

Those are the twizzles of best junior dance team of the season. Could be Alina and Daniil worthy adversary?![]()
If you think about we saw 3rd and 5th attempt, it's very good. I don't think even pairs who dance together for a long time do it completelly synchronize for the first try. Really don't know how our girl can be that good in everything she does.
Ok I watch the video, and it remind me that there is always THE era. This juniors are good, deffinitelly can skate, but have you ever watch Virtue&Moir or Davis&White in juniors? Those pairs amazed even in much lower age, they clicked, have a connection with each other and audience. They are probably the best era of ice dance all the time. Poor other pair who was amazing, but .. skate in a bad time.
And now there is the best era of female single skating. Yea there was amazing skaters who will stay there forever, and there always was upsets in history. But this Olympics was not an upset, it was start of something huge. Zhenya did outstanding job in free, give everything away and it was that emocional that she cried on the ice. But it was not enough. Alina was better. And a year later, she is better again to prove everyone was wrong about her. And then there are junior girls. It will be thrilling to watch in last couple of years. It's a shame that only 3 of russian girls could go to the Europeans, Worlds, Olympics. And also there are some Japan 3A ladies .. and 3L 3lo starting be common ..whoohoo
But jokes apart, the rest of the world don't sleep. Maybe we really live in historical moment when all the ladies figure skating is facing new era, and in several years at least one quad will be normal part of the program of any top lady. SOme would probably not like it, as it was probably when ladies started to jump triples or 3-3 combos. But that's the development. And back to Alina and Daniil's twizzles. If you think about we saw 3rd and 5th attempt, it's very good. There are also quad attempts. US Alysa Liu tried 4Lz in competition and korean Young You did 4Lz in training. I'm curious I I would hear that they will lose it before they reach senior level or that this is abusing of childrenBut jokes apart, the rest of the world don't sleep. to come back and snatch gold at her first return competition. She's still hungry for medals and as long as she is hungry, Alina can do anything.
I really don't want to imagine any future games being that much of a mess.Daniil in figure skating since he was four years old.
In 2007 he finished third in the Russian Junior Championship , he was supposed to compete at the Junior World Championships,
but was injured while training. Due to injury at the age of 18, he moved from single skating to ice dance.
For several years, his partner on the ice was Ksenia Korobkova , together they won two international trophies .
At the same time, Daniil's father died, and he began to support the family himself. He ended his career,
began coaching and performing in the show of Ilya Averbukh: first in group , and then with small solo parts.
Since the end of 2014 has become part of the team Eteri Tutberidze
Though I have to say that if you're looking for drama in ladies' singles, the 1994 Olympics is THE Olympics for that.I really don't want to imagine any future games being that much of a mess.
I even refused to watch that "I, Tonya" movie.Yes! I think moriel posted some stats in the Russian ladies thread about Alina being the first Olympic champion since two-time Olympic champion Katarina Wittto come back and snatch gold at her first return competition. She's still hungry for medals and as long as she is hungry, Alina can do anything.
I ended up watching another documentary about Katarina Witt because no new material is coming out for a few days until SA. After the rules changed, Katarina decided to go to the 1994 Olympics, but she said she knew before time she had no chance of winning, because the girls in the generation after her were too good at jumping. I heard that and thought, wow, one sentence story of ladies figure skating right there. :sad21: It's always THE era. :sad21: Though I have to say that if you're looking for drama in ladies' singles, the 1994 Olympics is THE Olympics for that.I really don't want to imagine any future games being that much of a mess.
The whole post.
Yea Katarina Witt's era was completelly different, but beautiful as hell. I love her Carmen. (But have never yet seen the movie, I know I know, shame on me). It's nice to look to the history of any sport sometime.![]()
1984 , I was then young and in love with Katarina :luv17: āThe Most Beautiful Face of Communismā, āThe Red Queenā

Memorable date. I think it could be good book title![]()

For me ,a quad is like a cherry on a cake, something special and exclusive. I do not want everyone to try to do it and the competition would turn into a competition of attempts and not figure skating. Triple jumps are 80% of the maximum for women, quads are already 100% and we know that this is possible, but there will never be stability, they will make attempts, we will watch this lottery and pray so that during this show no one is injured.
But ,if Sasha or Anna will jump quads at 16-18 years old, then I will have to eat licorice candies again, punishing myself :noshake:
Followed by part two of the same series, The red princess"? :luv17: Inspired by real facts, which took place on 23 February, 2018![]()
