Alina Zagitova

Alina won the ladies, Zabiako/Enbert won pairs, Stepanova/Bukin won the dance. Wow russia snatch all the medals in helsinki what about the men's✌😂

Congrats to Alina on the win! She proved she is a fighter and can make it through tough times! :hap10:

I was sad to hear that yesterday bothered her so much. I really wish she wouldn't be so hard on herself. Nobody is perfect and it's just amazing how she was able to keep it together and do so great afterwards. If it was me I probably would fall apart like a crumbling cookie.

And that stuffed owl! She looked so cute holding it. :luv17: I have a collection of stuffed owls that are small, but never have I seen one so huge! Poor thing is going to be Masaru's friend.

And Alina... snobby? She is the opposite! And I can't see her as petulent. Reminds me how some queens in history were accused of being snobby when in fact were very sweet; they were just shy. For some reason some people can't tell the difference. :scratch2: I think Alina's shyness and sweetness is obvious. :o:

lesnar001: I agree. I wish the foot ads would be band. They are hideous and so distracting. :disapp:

I am a big Alina supporter but after watching the press conferences in Helsinki, I feel that she is a bit snobby?!

As Alina's supporters we know how kind-hearted, gentle and modest she is (even shy sometimes). At both press conferences she seemed tired, also she was not satisfied with her performance so she could not "pretend" that she is super-happy, because she was not. (I wish she were, because she just won another competition this season, but oh, she is perfectionist and hard-working too, so she expects a clean performance)

A good indicator is exactly what she confessed at the press conference, that after the SP, during the night, she kept thinking at all her mistakes. I really wish Alina to always be as strong as we know her, because I can't imagine how hard it is to cope with all this pressure. To be able to find something positive even in failure (how she sees a not so clean performance), to simply enjoy skating, competing and not be so hard on herself. But with time, all these things will come, she keeps learning and improving continuously.

Somehow I don't think "snobby" is a word that would ever apply to Alina.

However I would love to see some footage of "petulant" Alina.

"Eteri - fix my collar ---- NOW!!!!"

And imagine Eteri's answer: "By your command, my ice queen." This followed by deep bow and fear in her eyes

No, in all seriousness again: I think Alina is humble and shy but honestly, she‘s still only a 16 year old girl. I mean, girls of that age just aren‘t always nice, in fact no one is always nice and sweet. She probably has days too when she‘s not in the mood to do anything and just snapping at everybody. Few probably, but still. She‘s not a robot after all. Anyway, I don‘t think this matters. I haven‘t seen videos of the press conference but I can totally see why she would be a bit annoyed with some of the questions and she was probably also just tired and still a bit disappointed. She probably wasn‘t smiling as much as usually and answered questions quickly and without going into too much details. Doesn‘t mean she is cold or snobbish or anything. Just not in the mood to state for the thousandth time how much she‘s grown and whether or not the tapes on her knee mean she‘s injured. I mean, come on, who can blame her.

People, what are you talking about? Just focus on the look in Alina's eyes when she spotted new Masaru's friend for the first time: https://youtu.be/IHvjM-LyPr0?t=625

Is this a look of a snobbish girl? I saw the press conference (both) and I didn't see anything like that. The fact she sometimes defends herself has nothing in common with snobbery or petulancy. Like after the OG whe somebody asked her if she is even happy with the gold medal, she said "I don't understand the question, of course I'm happy, what would you guess?" (or something like that). That is absolutely normal reaction. Being sweet and kind-hearted does not mean being sometimes in defensive mood when facing questions that are too personal, doubting her achievemnts or just sound silly to her.

You are so right, flanker. I guess reasoning with some people who don't like Alina is like talking to a wall, so I guess it's better to ignore them. I don't know why they need to write all this non-sense on her fan-fest, they should all remember the saying "If you don't have something nice to say, don't say anything at all."

If the fame was getting to her head she wouldn‘t have looked so sad after her SP and FS, she would have been like: ”oh, I‘m easily first anyway. Next time I‘ll be better but one mistake isn‘t too bad, I‘m still the best of the best.“ Everything she said contradicts her being arrogant because of the attention she receives. On the contrary, she is totally critical of herself.
