Alina Zagitova

He must think what he says, for Alina, especially now , in difficult time for her, unpleasant to know that all skaters of the Russian national team did not support her and wanted to win another.
reg. bad behavior of fans, I am not support it, but do not throw stones in a glass house

I'm just speculating, but I think Alina probably already knew this. I also think/hope she will just channel it into motivation. Also I think this fairly blatant lack of support from Russia's skating elite immediately after her win has created some very protective Alina fans.

Obviously I am NOT talking about people who clearly need a lot of psychiatric help. These monsters are not fans and really should be locked up for wishing any kind of harm on another human being much less a child.

From previous interviews, Trankov has always been very Pro-Alina. He even called out Ashley Wagner on her tweets during the Olympics. Without even reading the article, I could guess he was talking about pre-Olympics, not after the performances.

To these so-called "Alina Fans" - please throw your "support" at someone else instead. Or at least if you want to be her fan, make an attempt to at least be 1% as nice as she is. Otherwise - hit the bricks, jerks.

Read the article. He is very clear about why the Russian Olympic team felt like Zhenya deserved a gold medal for what she'd done in the past BUT also points out that Alina 100% deserved the gold medal based off performances in Peyoncheng.

I know you are trying to be funny but there genuinely people, calling themselves "Alina Fans"/"Alina's defender's" hoping his two year old daughter will die in an incredibly painful way. That is not justified and honestly is not something I would have expected.

BTW I put "Alina Fans" in speech marks because I know Alina would never condone the kind of behaviour these people are showing and she would be horrified if she found out what was being said in her name.

They are not Alina's fans. they are just angry and mean people, have you read Alina's Instagram? Some people wish her pretty bad things, but she is smart enough not to react. I don't understand why does Trankov involve Alina in such nasty situation, especially before such an important competition.

That's what I was trying to say, thank you.

Nobody deserved OGM for that he or she done in a past .. If so reasoning then the medal had to give Carolina

.....I'm not sure how to explain this to you. Of course you don't award an OGM for what someone has done in the past....that's why Alina has the gold medal. I'm using the word here because that's how the interviewer puts the question to him, "Tuktamysheva says Medvedeva deserved/was worthy the OGM...why would she say something like this?"

Max then (summarising a lot here) says that well, people supported Zhenya because of this reason and that reason BUT that Alina won the gold medal deservedly. I don't think he's saying Med should have won the gold medal because she did this or that in the past, more that those things lead certain people (like Tukt or TAT) to root for her to win going into Peyoncheng. I also think he tries to explain things here because the journalist was trying to create issues about Tukt commentating on Alina's programs this weekend (Max will be commentating with her).

Again Max isn't the main issue here, he's actually pretty supportive of Alina. The problem is the journalist (this journalist seems very anti-Eteri to me...they say for example are Alina's nerves due to being terified of Eteri) and a certain section of the Russian press which seems determined twist all press about Alina into something negative.. They could have chosen anything else in the interview as a headline: i.e. Zagitova deserved the Olympic gold, or Trankov says reports Alina is terrified of Eteri are rubbish.

Is it a stupid interview? Kind of.

Does it say anything new? Not really.

Are people justified in making threats against his two year old? Definitely not.

(Normally I really like to just scroll through this thread and see all the lovely comments about Alina - I don't post because it moves to quickly for me to keep up with  but honestly this did really bother/upset me today. It's not fair to Max and it's also not fair to Alina for people to do this.)

That's why I referred to them in "".

He really isn't saying anything new or interesting. Only speaking the way he normally does to a journalist who is working very hard to try and stir up as much trouble as they can before Rostlecom. I'm not defending the journalist or the publication.

I think you should not let these kind of things botter you..these people clearly are not Alina's fans, they have mental problems, and don't even deserve to be mentioned here or to receive any attention at all. I hope Alina will stay away from any kind of media pressure, she's so tough and I admire her a lot for this.

I won't comment about what Trankov said, I just think it would be wiser for him to not debate this kind of subject anymore as it is very controversial, especially before such an important competition...

To come back to our positive vibes, I am posting here a beautiful video with Alina, I don't know what she says but she is gorgeous and she seemed so happy when she received those flowers :luv17:

IMO. just disgusting and stupid behavior from an adult man. Right before the competition in a very difficult week for Alina and Eteri.
I just can't respect such a person...

I cant understand all this negativity against her from people from her own country. Poor Alina. Why is this child so unloved? At least she has her dog and her fans:luv17:

Ok, I see ..journalist is bad, Max is good .

Journalist just said " Max, your interview is boring, we knows all you said, nobody will read it,
give me something special, spicy ,give me a fire ! “

Max :palmf: ok,ok, something special,spicy.. take it — we , Russian team, do not support Alina,
because she didn’t deserve a gold , we had another candidate!! Is it ok for article ?
And fire , because Rostelecom tomorrow! Of course people will read it !! are you satisfied?

Journalist — mmm, yummy , thank you !!! People need a truth, and Alina of course, this truth should help her during tomorrow competition

She seemed a little bit off from what I saw in those practise videos though. I hope she's not putting herself under additional pressure. Skating at home, especially wearing the burden of the Olympic medal, should be stressful. I wish her a lot of luck for the next 2 days! I don't think that the other skaters are big contenders for the gold, maybe the 2 Japanese in the second group? Still they would most probably go silver-bronze in any order, after Alina. She just has to be calm and do her job as if it was practice. Even if some mistakes happen, she should know that there are a lot of people who support her no matter what. :):ghug:

Edit:

First time when I read a comment of yours and I saw your username this was exactly what I had in my mind "I love your username, and I am sure we will get along very well"

Can I confess that for a long time I didn't pay attention that there's The Ballerina and Ice Ballerina and I thought I am always reading the comments of the same person. :o:

Its not going from people, it’s going from some elite of Russian figure skating who bet to another candidate

So, people are still on this topic?Journalists should really move on [emoji849]
Btw, I'm sure Alina knows about the situation and I have the impression that she gets motivation from this lack of positivity, it pushes her to want to prove herself. Of course there is a lot of pressure, but she is a fighter and she'll do great [emoji4]

Let's put this discussion to an end. I understand your resentment, I also am not fond of Trankov's wording and moreover of what all those home journalists are trying to do. Still, your words put kind of a shade over Evgenia and this is not fair. She's moved on, left Russia and is doing her thing now. Alina also has moved on, she's concentrating on her goals for the season. Eteri is also done with the emotional confessions to journalists about this story and is dedicating herself to her own students. I think they are doing great, life should go on. If we keep discussing this than we give the media what it wants - drama about something that happened long time ago. It would be the best when we put this to a side and concentrate on the most important thing right now - Alina's competition tomorrow.

From what I have read (via Google translate) on sports.ru, it seems to me that the lack of support Alina received immediately following her Olympic victory from the Russian skating elite has created an 'equal and opposite reaction' of strong support for Alina from a sizable majority of Russian figure skating fans. It warms my heart to see this.

Of course she still has detractors and critics and psychos like any other skater, but her supporters far outnumber them!

looks like you haven't read the last interview.

It really shouldn't cast any shade on Evgenia. She has absolutely no control over who supports her and who doesn't or their reasoning for doing so. She certainly can't control what TAT, Trankov, Liza, Bobrova or anyone else has to say about anything.

But I do get the point that people will look for any reason to shade someone. It doesn't have to make sense. :(
