Alina Zagitova

I counted the rotations from where she begins the loop, not from where the pre-rotaton stops. But where I counted the landing was when her toe pick touched down, and they looked UR to me. For example, the one at 34:14 it looked like the toe pick touched down when the blade was still forward. Obviously, I could be wrong and I'd make a gif to show what I'm talking about but that's outside my area of expertise.

I wasn't aware that it isn't possible to discuss Alina's jumps in her fanfest anymore, especially since that's the only place to discuss competition practices aside from the low attendance comp thread. It's not a competition and we're not arguing scores or what's deserved or not, just a comment on her jumps. But sure, you're welcome to add me to your ignore list if you think that's not a conversation that can be had in a fanfest. It's a conversation that has been in Alina's fanfest as well as others' without problems in the past.

Personally I'm fine with discussing Alina's jumps. But people are free to express they sense, if someone is doing it with good or bad intentions in a fan fest (I'm not saying yours are bad).

I wouldn't say though that all the loops in combo that she did where underotated. Some, like the second loop in the stamp time that you mentioned, yes it is, but the first is looking either clean or borderline to me. Generally what I noticed is whenever she was underotated a jump or was borderline (some Lutzes were in this category) she was going to Eteri/Dudakov and was coming back with a better attempt. She is in the process to fix them I guess. With a strict panel probably she will get a call, I'm afraid more for the FS when the legs will be more tired, in the SP since it's the first jumping pass, I expect it to be clean.

As for the journalism (and the surrounding people) in Russia, I expressed my self before in this thread. They really gonna destroy the girl...

You're welcome to the competition thread or any the edge threads. Where everyone will welcome Alina's bashing about existing and nonexisting whatever you can come up with.
It's a fanfest. a Positive place where bashing is not place to be.

Dear colormyworld240, I just want to remind you, that you're not supposed to measure UR at the moment the toe pick touch the ice, but the blade. If someone tells you otherwise, they're wrong. Even more so, inertia of motion counts as well. That's how tech specialists explain why Satoko hardly ever recieves UR calls, even if her blade stood fully on the ice at the 180 UR mark.

I definitely did not know this, my bad. I always thought it was the toe pick touching the ice, that's what I saw in the videos I used to learn about the sport (obviously incorrect as I realize now). OT I have definitely been guilty of thinking Satoko's jumps were UR because of this. So I can see why Alina's jumps aren't UR now because I was measuring at the wrong point. Apologies to everyone I've offended, honest mistake!

I believe, I know what videos you're talking about. Yes, they're biased, and that's why they're not good. We may not always agree with this (with "inertia of motion", f.e. But what can I say? It was something that tech specialist said himself, I'm not the one to argue with him), but we should keep it in mind.

(why do I have to work when there are so many things happenning!)
1. Managed to watch Alina's practice and that was good! You go girl! Eteri displays a lot of care and attention, and so does the rest of the team.
2. I do not quite understand why Russian media and skating elite continue to try to create a controversy when there is none. Also, I find it non-professional for current skaters to commentate competitions. Just saying.
3. Aliiiiiinaaaaa! Best of luck today! We love you and support you!

Wishing Alina the best of skates today! So sad I can’t watch because of work, but will be checking periodically on the forum for results. 😀

Best of luck to Alina today! Go, girl, you can do it as you just proved in practice. Do it like this in competition !! We want to see happy smiles in the K&C again!! :hap10:

I'm overseas, the time zone is similar to NYC so I'm not really jet lagged, and all make it my number one priority to catch her performance live. I'm going to shake my resourcefulness tree until that stream comes up right as she is about to skate (don't know if I'll be able to catch the whole group).

Go Alina!!!! You are amazing and magical and I wish you a skate you can be truly happy with. We all love you and respect you as the fantastic girl that you are.

Dear, sweet Alina, I wish you a satisfying performance today and also tomorrow at Rostelecom Cup! The amazing crowd will surely make you realize you are so loved, so give us two breathtaking programs the way only you can!

I can't wait to watch the SP, thank you for the stream link!

Go Alina!! You are amazing and will do it. Be calm and everything will turn out fine. Good luck! :hap10:

Thx for a video. I just watch full practice and .. I have to say, her moves are smooter again .. part about 21:35? WAU. Jumps are completely with music. She look quite calm and very solid practise. Cannot wait till evening.

And I have to admit that I was not a huge fan of her music cuts, I was one of the people who like this program from the begining, but I thinked the cuts cut be done more softly, smootly .. but I'm starting to be fan of it. They use every cut as an oportunity for move. The part's are so different and I'm looking forward to next part. It's so fast, it seems like just minute (max).
