Alina Zagitova

Go Alina!!! Knock our socks off today with POTO, you always do, every single performance, every single time.

I want to see you smiling and happy at the kiss & cry.

Interview with Daniil, they are trying Quads with Alina (with harness done in practice now) they did 4Lo and 4Lz. Not to be used this season but they are going to build into it for the next one. That actually explains a bit about her Lz and Lo right now, as you go for quads it changes your triples or so I’ve heard.

I knew this had to come. I knew it! :yahoo:

Alina, lots of success with handling those quads :agree:

Wau  They must be very close, because when not he will never speak about that. Once you said it loud people start have exceptation, especially when we are speaking about OGM. To be honest I never believed they don't try it. She is ambitious and determined enough to do everything to stay with the top. But the fact they admitted it is huge. And It's amazing she is learning quads while struggled with body changes. Our girl is so brave, stunning

Just came back from work, and at laaast it's Friday!! (EdRoz, I think you understand this better than anyone:biggrin:) and we get to see Alina competing.

Alina looked rock solid in practice, everything was efortless and smooth, good 3Lz+3Lo combo and her step sequence is becoming better and better. Seeing her practice videos always helps me alleviate my anxiety, she is so focused and confident that she calms my heart (and my overthinking mind )

I am so excited to watch her today, I wish her all the best, a clean skate with smiles and a raised, victorious fist at the end. :luv17:

Good luck, our sweet, amazing champion!:yahoo: https://twitter.com/zagitovagifs/status/1000084933761732608

Alinka fans attacking Trankov in IG , they drives him crazy
because he said — we ,Russian athletes , do not support Alina during Olympic, all of us cheering for EM

Honestly, Alina's fans on IG make her a huge disservice (they attacked Trankov now, previously Aberbukh, TAT, Liza Tuk, etc they are very aggresive and their comments are mainly about shipping). I hope this will change in the near future. And I realized that I began to have question marks about Alina after she started to read on IG comments and she was more or less influenced by that.

So happy to see one more Alina's fan from my country, it is very nice to see you here, Amelia!. :ghug:
What a nice surprise! I didn't know you were Romanian too. I am glad to see a compatriot being one of the most active supporters of Alina in this thread :ghug: . As for me, I am a long-time fan of Alina, but I've been mostly lurking here until now. But she is a wonderful young lady and she deserves all our support, that's why I decided to finally post here. I want to wish her good luck and most importantly, to be happy with her performances at the end of the competition!

Thank you so much lusk8! Alina never ceases to amaze me, so much determination even during her growth spurts..She is here to stay and is continuously working to improve. :clapper:

Yea the fans on IG are sometime too hard. It's not good. The key is be polite. An assault is never good idea. It cannot help anybody. Hope it will stop.

Yes, I hope they will learn from Alina who is all very classy in the interviews. I never saw her offend someone or respond to the comments.

Well, I didn't want to be involved into this discussion, but now I must. I understand that what Trankov had said wasn't intended to be harmful towards Alina, but! Since the olympics have ended, did Alina heard at least some approval of her succes? Him, old hag Tarasova, young "sassy" Liza, nearly everybody from "the industry" felt some need to express publicly how they liked Zhenya, rooted for her etc. As if it wouldn't be enough of this. I don't defend some harsh language if that is the case Alina's fans use, but I completely understand the frustration, which is source of that. They have phenomenal girl, not only phenomenal by her athletic abilities, but also by her personality, and from not a single one of those professionals I'd have heard something like "Thank you Alina for what you have done for Russia, we are proud of you."
Yes, Trankov maybe have said "she deserved victory", but that's nothing personal, nothing heart-warming. The same he could have said about anybody. Not to mention how many h-ters are there now who are waiting for the smallest mistake from her to tear her apart. So no wonder some can people feel like Alina is slightly overlooked.

I only just saw lusk8‘s post about Daniil‘s interview. And.... 4Lz and 4Lo for Alina??? Woaaah never expected that. But it‘s really cool. Guess we‘ll see 3 quad girls next season: Sasha, Anna and Alina! :yahoo: ;)

I'm rewatching Plushenko's interview that lesnar001 shared a few pages back :)

It makes me feel happy to hear someone who matters in Russian figure skating saying he knew Alina would win. And also that he won money off his manager on it

Well, yes, but everyone is entitled to have an opinion and a preference (based on their own reasons: personal, professional etc). We cannot impose to others what to like as well as nobody can impose to us what to like...

I was quite surprised by his announcement, being done on TV made it even more official.

If he is talking about it publicly for the first time, and they know the weight of expectations, must mean they are certain it will be a go for Alina.

I was expecting them to maybe go for a 4F since her 3F looks great and is her most expendable jump (meaning the one she doesn’t use for combos this season). On the other hand 4Lo makes sense for her because the Lo is one of her strongest jumps, the 4Lz is insane but Dudakov has it on his speed dial so for him it would be something he would go for.

Alina is focused and has the perpetual fire in her eyes, she’ll work towards this relentlessly and she’ll get it down to perfection.

QuadAlina!!! that's the news I didn't expect. O_O

Alina, have a skate you are happy with and dazzle us with your smile in the end. :) (I am getting increasingly nervous...)

I’m thrilled they’re putting their horses behind her, so to speak, instead of thinking that she’s maximized her abilities and moving on to the newest crop of quadsters. Very positive development for the future. If Daniil is announcing it they must be optimistic that she’ll be able to do them eventually and stay competitive throughout this quad.

Also I think they may be trying 4lz and 4lo because training quads can help improve the height of your triples, so alina’s combos will ultimately benefit as well. I also thought 4F was most likely for her, since the flip is such an easy jump for her.

Don’t forget Tarakanova is trying one too. She’s even oof’d one in an actual competition. ;)

Good Luck to Alina at Rostelecom Cup! Time to show the friends and family her best :hap57:
