Alina Zagitova

My message to your friend: :clapper::clapper::clapper::clapper::clapper::clapper:

It's a perfect work, and I don't know if it was intentional but sometimes the Leto's lyrics fit the footage in so interresting way, like "the evil" or "the liar" - one of the judges waves the crowd  Then, "the honest" - cute little girl in the audience :luv17:, and "to the leader" - Eteri/Daniil team shows up :laugh2:

Once again, congrats and thanks for the video.
Well, he did his best to make the montage fitting the lyrics. I also found 'the liar' very funny :D And we discussed adding the 3A but that wasn't his original idea. It's about the senior ladies and their difficult paths.
I didn't know it's so difficult to make a 3-minute video but I was such a terrible friend - I was like 'Are you ready yet? Will you send me the last part, pleeease? I can't wait anymore, SEND the thing already!!!' :ddevil:

I don't know about that... isn't he the guy Alina was "ordered" to give "her" medal to? :laugh2:

Actually, if you check out Layshev's IG, it is filled with pictures of awards and award ceremonies. He even has a picture of Alina's Olympic medal:

Maybe he has a shrine to Alina is his living room????

I hope it is a nice shrine, with candles and incense and maybe a lock of her hair.

I hope Alina gets to visit her medals and awards.

Yes, a lot of them are volunteers. Ms. Nicole Leblanc-Richard, for example, listed on her ISU bio that she has an engineering background. I don't know how she got into figure skating, much less became part of it enough to be a judge at the Olympics (yes, she was in Pyeongchang too :))

But some of the judges are former skaters, though not top figure skaters. I think very few top figure skaters become judges.
I think at SA, Scott Davis (former US champ) was a technical caller.
And I recall in the past seeing Alexi Urmanov listed as a technical caller.

Thank for the background information, I had no idea who the people where (apart from the occasional glimpse when they are introduced one by one by the TV Cameras and I'm watching live).

I wish more skaters became judges, I guess that would only make the whole judging process better. Not a lot of money involved in it I'm sure, so the big incentive is not there, but imagine Hanyu judging a competition (you call that a difficult entry, please....), people would have to work extra hard for a +5 from him.

Just remembered that (maybe at IdF) a lady in the audience focused by the camera had a cap that read "Making GOE great again", I laughed and laughed.

This season they could make funny t-shirts for the skaters: "Who says all judges can't agree on something. My bungled jump got a -5 GOE across the board"

After a stressful day at work (series of meetings and a number of people trying to imply that I was an idiot) to come home to so many treats - what a delight! :))

Bewitched's friend's video! Alina getting yet another reward (in absentia, sigh)!
And 3A attempt!!!! (I know I know, UR and all that - but if asked a year ago whether it would be possible we would say "hmmmm".) Is there an end to this girl's talents?

Also, it's time for Iriska to hide and for AlIna Bauer to shine - competition tiiiiime! :)

I'm not a troll , and this is a great moment for Alina , but I don't really understand the people around Alina

Renat Laishev, boss of Sambo 70 in the end of speech he said — And special thanks to EM

That is crazy....

I hope she gets her prize, diploma and bag of goodies.

I guess with the recent influx of crazy press it must be hard for the head of Sambo do be like Elsa from Frozen and just "let it go", since Zhenya skated with them since her beginning maybe he decided to use the available soapbox to let it be known that they hold no grudges.

Still, very wrong soapbox moment. This wasn't a Sambo award, this was Alina's, should have done that at the party they had at the rink.

That was hmm awkward. Why did he feel the need to bring it up? it was completely out of place. I agree with lusk8, it belonged to the Sambo70 birthday party, not to Alina's getting an award through him.

Why do they keep doing this?

The main reason I want Alina to get a 3A is to be the "BEST" Alina she can be.

But THIS is another reason I want her to do it.

Either it will shut these people up or make their heads explode.

Doesn't matter to me which takes place.

I am truly curious and I would be interested in any plausible explanation because it just makes no sense. I'm assuming there is some kind of agenda or motive here that I am incapable of understanding because it hardly seems possible that all of these people are so completely oblivious.

Are they just bending over backwards to try to make things 'ok' for Zhenya? I don't have a problem with that, but how can they not see that using this particular moment for that is just going to have the opposite effect? Am I missing something that is being lost in translation or a difference in culture?

I don’t know, it’s not a first time Sambo 70 boss making wrong statements ..:scratch2:

I mean we all misspeak and put our foot in our mouths at the worst possible time. But this just seems so odd. Thank her parents, thank her grandmother, thank her first coach, thank her fans, thank Masuru, but Med? Really? Ok, then.

There's a quote that says something like - There is no situation so dismal that a policeman could not make it worse.

(apologies to any police men in this thread.)

I'm going to swap out the words 'policeman' for 'Russian figure skating experts.'

I honestly don't know.

I can't even put into words how much the last few weeks have upset me.

Its like on "Everybody Loves Raymond"
Raymond was whining that he didn't have enough ice cream, so Marie gave him Robert's too.

At least this guy didn't feel the need to put Alina down to raise someone else up.

Alina is right.
Animals are great and people suck.

Honestly part of it is to justify their own bias and make themselves feel better about the hill they've chosen to die on, so to speak. People will eventually get tired of these stupid comments when both skaters manage to continue on with their lives just fine.

Posting this here because it is a nice clip of the evolution of Alina's 2A (the height and distance guys, the body position) and also because the music seems so perfect for this last few days

Thank you.

Because she is such a sweetie, I tend to forget how tough this kid is.

She came back from a broken leg (and arm too I think?).
Bad enough that she had to relearn walking.
Now, I know that is nothing compared to a stress fracture in the foot, but pretty impressive nonetheless!

I just don't like seeing someone basically treated like they're feelings don't matter.

And 99.9999% of this is from dramas that do not even involve her.
