Alina Zagitova

I think it's a good sign that she feels good now. And it's mean that her burn wasn't too deep like we were afraid.

And it means the underlying injury which caused the need for the medication in the first place is healed/healing! This is good news!

I was looking elsewhere on the Internet, and it seems that Alina can't even do a practice quad without people screaming that she is injured and done :(
I think moriel predicted this

Her team has a good track record with jumps so far, they have successfully trained multiple girls to jump quads. In Eteri we trust.

Some people will always be ridiculous. Why would she be jumping a quad if she was injured? It's not like she needs to train it for her programs. Clearly her injury or injuries are healed enough for her to work on quad jumps. And apparently she feels strong enough to do it. Maybe it is a confidence building exercise. Maybe she just felt like doing something different in training. Maybe Sergei was bored. Who knows?

4F training by Alina!!! This is a way to welcome a great new year!!!

First time I've seen her in harness doing anything really (I'm sure she uses it for the new jumps as do everyone else doing new jumps). So what she has been doing these extra days before/between Christmas and New Year's is jump training with Dudakov.

I bet she got really fired up about the tech.

First thoughts:

- I think it's smart to go for the 4F (even more so if they plan to add anything in the short term). Her 3F is her current best jump, and in GOE among the ladies the first jump to get a solid + 4. It is also a jump she currently does as a solo. If they "monkey" with her Lz a lot hangs in that balance, she has 2 different 3Lz combos, I wouldn't go for that unless it was like super stable. With the 4F she can "kid around" a bit. She has space build around her 3F (likely for a back up combo if one of the 3Lz ones backfires, but she wasn't really working on that back up combo, she couldn't add it on the fly, so anyway....her 3F is her best jump with "room around it"). She also uses the 3F for a 3-2-2, this season she had positive GOE on that in all instances (expect RusNuts).

- Jumping with a harness is a tool to decrease the learning curve for a new jump. It helps the coach direct the take off curve, keep the skater straight in the air and keep the skater's back position upon landing. So it's not like he is lifting her up out of nowhere and keeping her up like a caught fish when she would have "crash landed" herself. She did all the full rotations on the air, she took a second longer to get her leg into it's usual air position, she had her knee a bit out at the start, but then she was in her usual air position which is very tight. She did the full quad rotations in the air and landed forward. Dudakov pulled her into the air position he wanted (but not lifted her from the ice of held her up as people assume when they see a harness), that's what the harness is for.

- She did this jump out of no set up at all.

- Since she doesn't fall and Dudakov can direct her with the harness this leads to, as I mentioned above, faster learning curves for jumps because she will get to perfect a move with "good muscle memory" and not "bad muscle memory" from developing the intel with falls included. And believe me, a harness shouldn't prevent a fall, if she was like "behind" on her capacity to get this, she would fall with a harness. The fact that she lands and he can correct her is the key here, she is well on her way to acquiring the correct technique he wants to teach her for this. And as we all know, Alina is such a fast learner of tech.

I'm excited!!! To see her going for this and going confidently at it is exciting indeed. She is leaning it with correct process and I have no doubts that learn it she will.

Will they add it now, will they add it next season. I have no idea. They are the smart ones working with her everyday and with their goals in synch, they will do what makes more sense and looks achievable. She is getting a feel for what it feels like to to a Quad in the air, take off for one, land from one, all the important things to up her tech in the future.

The fact that she is working so diligently on her FUTURE (in all caps) is the most exciting part of all this for me.

Go Alina!!! You are the best!!!

Why would she be jumping a quad if she was injured?

The thing is...everyone here was screaming that she's injured and that's why she didn't skate clean last week, and now suddenly we get a video of her training a quad. Some people are probably confused. Still, they're making a big statement by leaking this video. It means she might actually have landed a quad with the harness already successfully ;) This is awesome news! The Flip was always her money jump, turning it into a quad would be my dream come true  I'm looking forward to the coming months, who knows what will follow. Of course, hopefully without compromising her health!

I just saw the video of her 4F in the harness. It's not perfect yet, but with a bit of training, I think it's possible. I wish her good luck :) It would be great to see her land one in competition one day (if she wants to, of course).

It looks like Team Eteri will not give up on her after this season.

Leaking this video now is strategy though. After her desaster at Nationals everyone thinks she is done and will be surpassed by the three other girls next year. This is how you get her in the mix again and rebuild her reputation.

Oh my godness!!!!! It's a very strong message to the world that she is trying quads! It means that they take it really seriously! Also this is 4F, Daniil speak about 4lutz and loop, gosh she is learning all 3? Our figther.

This is insane! 4F video, even in a harness, was not something I was expecting at the end of this year, but I am so impressed!

Many people were so "worried" that Alina is not trying enough to up her tech. Of course she is, and always has been continuously working to be better, to challenge herself.

It is a work in progress, but it proves that Alina is healthy, determined to succeed and more ambitious than ever. And for me this is more important than the actual 4F. I don't think this is meant to be performed this season, maybe next season if it will be stable enough, but anyway, Alina is really doing everything she possibly can to be the best.

I don't believe Alina's grandmother would have applied the medication that caused the burn to her leg unless there was some underlying injury. A very unfortunate example of trying to solve one problem by creating another! And to be honest, I was a LOT more concerned about that undisclosed injury than the chemical burn. Maybe it was the 'light sprain' Alina mentioned after tripping over the TV cables in Vancouver?

I'm just happy that she is feeling strong enough and well enough to try a quad jump in a harness. I think it's also a good sign that her team believes she's up for it as well. :)

Yes, you are right, she did skate in pain at RusNats, how we found out later, she had a chemical burn. But a burn heals, and this video is a good proof that her burn is healed, Alina is healthy and more determined than ever.

So no need to be confused, just to celebrate together this great news. :hap10:

Oh gosh. I just checked twitter and instagram and people are freakin out Eteri is abusing that little girl, she is already amazing without quads.

1. I don't think Eteri is abusing her. She don't even neceserily need her next season, she already will have 3 seniors. So I don't believe she push her no matter what.
2. What I see in the last moths look like Eteri treat her really well. She don't look like she just wan her kick out and let her retire after that season.
3. For me that's all is just message that Alina is determined to fight. She don't wanna give up. She is better artisticaly and she wanna lead technicians too. AND team is ready to help her.

Why nobody was fraking out when Liza come with 3A? She was quite old for come with this big new stuff and she nail it. Alina is still youngster. The fact she won Olympic at the and of 15 doesn't mean she is suddenly 5 (or more) year older. She is still junior. Many girls in her age already still compete in that category. Kaetlyn Osmond was still in juniors at her age and what she achieved later. She has time to learn new things. Why she have to give up to Rika, Anna, Sashka? Because she already won the Olympic? She is almost in the same age and has time. What's more, she has experiences and succes in her back.

God damn ..sorry for that post but I'm just angry and I need to tell anybody.

Each and every day, the sun rises in the east --- and someone on twitter wants to "Save Alina from Eteri!!!!"

Funny thing is.....I think Eteri is on vacation already.

Alina is a hard worker and she does what she feels she needs to do. And does it sooooooo greatly that I have to admire her for it.

Alina has a future....a FUTURE....and she is working towards her goals.

People should take a hint from her, find some goals and go work towards them as hard as she does towards hers.

Some 2019 inspiration for all.

Edited to add: Khal Drogo has turned into Aquaman people, take this as a sign and let it go.

Ah, so Eteri went on vacation to set up an "alibi"

I do indeed have a goal....

Save Alina from Eteri!!!!

Wow. Twitter is not happy.

I took her jumping as a positive sign. It would seem not everyone agrees.

Stay mad, I guess. For whatever good it does you.

I checked twitter. It's not pretty. I guess that if she wasn't training quads, they would still say that Eteri doesn't care of her and is doing nothing to make her more competitive against the quadsters...

yes. It's always the same. :sarcasm:
No matter what they do ... they always will be "the bad" and "evil".

I think people don't like quads so much, and don't forgive the sucess. That's why they are draging Eteri and Alina so much.

My twitter was full of nice words about Anna's lutz when she beat Alina, and no one care that she felt a lot in previous competitions. But in general they are freaking out about woman's quads. Also - interesting no one is fraking out that Yuzu wanna probably kill himself when he speak loudly about his goal to land 4A. That's only amazing. But if they were willing to think, they would see that Yuzu don't have typical man's body. He is very fragile for man. I don't know if I'm that much for woman's quads but I always think about that that if he is able to jump that amazingly, then girls are probably too. It's just something new we are not used to see.

They was talking about how Eteri is not able to work with older skaters after Nats (Yea Alina is really old, isn't she?). That she just abuse them and when they are older she kick them out or ruin them because it's harder to work with them. Now they see she is not kicking Alina anywhere and already the team teach her quads seriously. So suddenly they change mind and poor girl is abusing from her coach who want only ruin her health for her profit. Maybe also because everyone is saying the girls will loose quads as they getting older, Alina already grown a lot and she is on the righ way to do it, that's what people don't wanna to see, because it don't fit into their teory. Also it ruin their theory that she is done.

Like come on? People don't have other things to do then pernamently drag succesful people for basicaly everything they do?
