More than anything, I think their comments are far beyond what is appropriate for a 16 year old girl, let alone the GOAT and youngest grand slam winner in figure skating history, only the second ever.
They've said she's named after Putin's mistress, said she should retire and be a model, said "she's pretty and has a Lutz Loop but that's it". I believed they've also said she/her program was too sexy like. Hell, such comments are so incredibly sexist and chauvinistic and inappropriate. She's a skater, comment on her bloody skating you morons. Why are they even so fixated about how she LOOKS.
Are they even conscious of the fact they are talking about a teenage girl? Two grown men publicly saying a 16 year old girl has no personality and has nothing more than a pretty face, a good jump combination and a dog. They need to take a long hard look at themselves and what they are doing with their 'voice'. They talk about damage, trauma, abuse to young skaters and then with their next breath do exactly the same thing with their commentary.
What possible satisfaction can you get from doing a public take down on a teenage girl? Does the world really need more of that? If that's your contribution to the world of figure skating how are you changing the culture for the better?
Given their own personalities I'm not surprised they are incapable of appreciating Alina's. That says more about them than it will ever say about her. Again, she's not even 17. Even Katarina Witt became Katarina Witt. There's no telling who Alina will grow up to be. I hope we get even more competitive seasons from her to watch and appreciate her growth as a skater and performer.
Also I don't believe Alina will ever have as little to do in her life as either of them.

At any rate, I'm glad to know she is leading.
