I'm so excited about this! I think it's a great choice for Alina. So much potential in this music. I've always loved 'The Feeling Begins'. Cleopatra is a wonderful avatar for her. I can just imagine the fierceness in her eyes and her amazing profile. I hope Olga comes up with the most amazing costume.

Cleopatra (the most famous one of the several queens of Egypt with that name that is usually meant when someone mentions it) was a descendant of a Greek dynasty, not an Egyptian. :)

Twitter is already posting photos of every horrible Cleopatra skating costume from recent memory. :laugh: There have been some truly terrible ones. :eeking: I have faith in Olga.

Now I just have to trust in Daniil's music cuts. :pray:

Why are people still worrying about cuts? I liked cuts in POTO (probably that's why people try to sit as far from me as they can in restaurant? :biggrin: )

I came to accept the cuts in POTO but I never loved them. They felt abrupt to me. Ultimately it worked and now I cannot imagine that program any other way. I want to love this new Cleopatra program. "The Feeling Begins" is an incredible song. I don't even have words to express how happy I am about this song. And Lawrence of Arabia is great skating music. I hope he can weave them together as seamlessly as he did the theme from 'Moonlight' in her Black Swan program. I want it to flow.

But he might have a different vision. The cuts in POTO created drama. Like the shattering glass into the music box moment. If ever there was a character that screams for drama it is Cleopatra! I have faith in him. I'm here for whatever.

I'm just so thrilled to get to see Alina skate to one of my favorite pieces of music for a season.
 
Well, since I can't sleep (had way too many espressos today) and it's way past midnight in my timezone, I won't let anyone sleep here too, and give y'all a nightmare:

Jojo will assist Daniil with Cleopatra choreography.

Waking up and seeing this choice makes me smile, because I am just thinking... How could I not see this earlier? The beautiful, dark-haired, powerful and elegant Alina as Cleopatra. It was just meant to be. Definitely her style, Alina likes this kind of music and programs, and a great character for her to become.

I want it to be epic, and Daniil can do this. I am not at all worried for make up or costumes, we all know what great taste Eteri has, so I am just excited to see them, I think they will be flawless. And Alina.. Like usual, gorgeous!

It will be so interesting to see her growth, after the Samson and Delilah program from junior years, to Cleopatra, as the reigning Olympic and World Champion, and after her amazing artistical development.

I already see Alina jumping that 3Lz+3Lo during the Lawrence of Arabia part, in the second part of the program. And like the seductive and beautiful Cleopatra, will fascinate us once again, with her interpretation. I just woke up and I am still dreaming.. Or not? :biggrin:
 
I'll bet my chocochip muffin that the first pic (profile) is the start, and the second (en face, sorta) is the final pose in the FS programme. :)

:sad21::sad21: Time flies...It looks like just yesterday Alina was the little novice, barely jumping triples, and look how much she accomplished until now..:sad21:
 
Very Serious Matter!!!

I bet the folks at Shiseido are really happy that they've contracted Alina as their global brand ambassador, and are patting themselves on their backs for the new face of Shiseido in marketing campaigns.

But we here at the IHU (International Hamster Union) are really worried after noticing that something was amiss in the latest photo of Alina, and want to start a campaign with a couple of hashtags:

Please support us and spread the campaign all over social media.
