Alina Zagitova

I only accept cultural appropriation comments from people of that culture in question and no one else.
If someone does Egyptian program and egyptians are okay with it, then I don't see how that's a problem.
Let the people of that culture decide if it's appropriate or not. =) Not people of cultures who have nothing to do with it, or maybe have nothing to do with their spare time and are looking for reasons to be outraged =)

You can't join the outraged Russian fans ranks until you learn and/or remember his full last name. Application would have been denied. :p

On the other hand, since his ancestral roots were Czech, maybe they would've let you join anyway :)

Sorry, I was too lazy for Rimsky :shame::biggrin: (On my defence I say my chief has a double surname and it is quite annoying to use both so we usually use only the last one.)

Well, I didn't mean that IT IS warehorse. I refered that when he said it will be competelly new, I expected something new, like competelly new music not refer to any already use theme like Cleopatra, something like when for example Virtue end Moir did Latch from Sam Smith. Even Cleopatra as a theme is not warehorse. And I said that I'm even happy with a choice. :)

To the rest. I don't think there is really such a problem with something cultural. I think those "fans" always find something to complain about. Always find a reason to drag it. Those complaints are not from people who are from that culture. Like on twitter, I saw probably 2 times that people were ok with the choice of someone. Mostly it's always either disrespectful or poor skater got wrong music and it will kill him. Or third variant - it's so bad choice and it's so funny and it's a reason to laugh at him/her/them. Some skaters are always dragged, like Alina. Some are dragged and shamed at the same time for just breathing. It's probably new funny thing. :ohwell: Idk what is wrong with people ...

The first track of Alina's program is from "Passion: The Last Temptation of Christ". The second one if from "Laurance of Arabia". And the third one is just a drum track. I don't see how exactly these refer to Cleopatra other than being somewhat middle-eastern sounding. If that violates your standard for "completely new music" then Sam Smith doesn't qualify either, since I'm pretty sure somebody used something similarly sounding in the past as well. I suppose if Alina skated to hard dubstep or doom metal she would be able to satisfy your requirement, but there's really not much else in the way of options.

It refers to Cleopatra the way that Daniil anounced her program as "New free program. Cleopatra.". It's was not me, I'm not that dump stubborn baby who call it Cleopatra by myself becuase of melodies. Yes, by music it's competelly new, as a theme, not really. If she would skate to Romeo and Juliet and someone compose it's music exactly for her, I'm gonna say still the same. (It would be competelly amazing but unexpected for me in this case) About Sam Smith - it was called Latch, They not used his music for program with common name, so it's different and exactly what I expected here too. Sure there is only limited number of music styles so it must be always already used style. I only said that I expected something different, but I'M REALLY HAPPY WITH THE CHOICE! So idk what is point to be like "maybe metal or dumbstep would fullfill your requirements", I never mean it. But I'm not here to argue but support Alina!! :luv17: So I'm done with this now! I can't wait how it will look. How dancy it will be and what is her short.
