I think Alina can be fine with just triples. It's so difficult program, it will be the hardest one without quad or 3A. Her jumps seems absolutelly solid and big, so it can be the biggest GOE, her PSC will be probably highest too. I think she can pretty well compete with Anna and her 4Lutz. It's one jump and Alina has much more maturity, better artistry etc. I can even see her compete with Liza despite three 3A. I don't wanna be mean but it's the only thing she has, I was waiting when her FS will finaly end, and I'm sad to say that bc really like her. Only Sasha's difficulty is probably out of charge. I believe when she will skate clean and will be into it as she is, then she is fine! It's all up to her, as always. Also I think she said herself in one interview there will be some changes in composition, so her jumps can be switched, I think it will stay in this layout but maybe a bit in different order. Next year, juniors girls will start getting bigger PCS probably and she will probably need Quad, but she seems be well awared of that and wants to do it. I think slow steps is actually very good. She will keep VERY good technique, all jumps rock solid. It's important after her growth. And her potential quads can be very solid too. Better than rush with it and then constantly have bad edges and under calles like some skaters. Also it's safer. Plus it's very hard to do second Olympic cycle. If they are planning to go all the way it's very good decision to give her one, sligtly lighter, season. She can relax a bit, learn what she need in backstage and have fun. They need her to be still at her level but they needs her to be ready 2 years since now.

Danya, no words can alleviate the pain. It's as if someone had ripped a piece of heart out of you.
Your mother left us a happy woman. She was needed at work until the last day. She raised a son who cared for her and loved her immensely. You've made it as an accomplished coach and a lot of credit for that goes to your mother. And of course, Lyudmila Borisovna left a part of herself in each of our athletes.

I agree. I like their strategy. She is still competitive for the top stop (best case scenario) or a place on any podium. And absolutely a strong candidate to make the team for World's and Euros.
She is getting the opportunity to start strong with her programs and build/complicate them as the season progresses. She can continue to work on a quad if that is in her plans, but she doesn't have to put it in her programs and risk injury by over-training it, or throwing it in at competitions and falling on it.
Even if she doesn't win every competition (I don't think this is possible no matter how much I would like to see it.) she can stay near the top spot. Get on podiums, make the teams, solidify her position in the judges minds, and build her credibility with the federation.
She looked so calm out there. There's definitely something to be said for silencing all your critics and doubters and skating with an Olympic Gold Medal in one pocket and a World Gold Medal in the other.
And she did that after a summer full of shows, a vacation, multiple media and sponsorship obligations. There is no telling what this season holds but I feel like she is starting from a good place mentally and physically. What a change from last year! It's almost like the difference between Milan and Saitama! Just stay healthy. Everything else you can deal with as it comes.
Just wanted to make a quick remark. To me, quad or 3A just disrupt the flow of the program (too much freeze up moment to prep for the take off). I rather watch well balanced program with high artistic quality. Honestly, nobody can match the artistic quality delivered by Alina. She has the perfect body proportion and god like hand movement.
100% agree with every word. And I think she can get away with not having that level of difficulty this season. Next season might be a different story, but that is next season. For now she just needs to do her thing, stay competitive, stay healthy, and stay within striking distance of the top spot.
If it's in her game-plan she can continue to train more difficult jump(s) to get some more mileage on them/it. Then maybe debut them/it next season when they are more secure.
If it's not part of her plan to increase her jump difficulty in the coming seasons leading to Beijing then so be it. I will enjoy her beautiful skating for as long possible in whatever context it is presented.
I'm already in love with her programs this season. I am happy there is mostly positive feedback on various social media sites. It's also encouraging that Alina has won over a lot of former doubters with her new routines and beautiful performances.

She skated so beautifully, with so much energy and character, her improvement on her tes and pcs is so amazing.
agree with every word. When people that criticize and nitpick you admit you improved miles and miles, there's truly no better testament to the work you've done. The naysayers were defeated
She trusts her team and they only wish the best things for her and always act in her best interest.
World, Olympic titles are with her for her life, she's already achieved everything there's to achieve.
If she wants more world/olympic medals in her collection, I'm sure her team will support her and help her to achieve her goals.
If she wants to skate for herself and enjoy performing for the sake of it, she can also easily do that and I'll be happy either way.
She's already doing more than all, but 2 olympic champions before her, keep that in mind!
Frankly, I really can't find things to be worried aboutShe skated so beautifully, with so much energy and character, her improvement on her tes and pcs is so amazing.
I'd say she's in the shape that is better than in her Olympic year, she wasn't skating clean up until Euros that year.
Right now there was ease, enjoyment, fun and you could feel how confident she is. :luv17: I don't wanna jinx it, but I'm happy to see her so happy :luv17:
I think one thing about Alina people miss - she's not going to get disappointed if she doesn't have gold. She's disappointed when she doesn't skate clean or do her best, but she clearly appreciates every medal and every podium, whatever the color, and has enormous respect for her competitors. So if some of other girls go ahead, I know Alina would only be supportive of her competitors and teammate-sisters. She's too kind and generous to have any ill feelings about those things.
In anyway, I digress. All positive thoughts lately, and I just wanted to speak out![]()
To basically whole discussin, it's gonna be too long to tag everyone![]()
:luv17: ) or just say "ok it's a pitty!". Everyone will be there to say "it was under/pre rotated, wrong edge, weak, definitelly not goe it got, ..."
)
but today with Alina. She was there with some other girls, I think either Sasha or Anya was there too maybe Zhenya, Idk I remember clearly only Alina now.
And they were in a group secretly learning brand new jump.
Not quad but brand new (mean different than lutz, salchow, flip, ...)
I was only wondering, Idk if its possible by rules, but they maybe can try go for 3-3-3 combo as that triple jumps combo later in the season? She would be the first women to do so and it and it would get her higher difficulty, it doesn't need different jump and also we know she is able to comfortably jump those, even 3Lz-3lo3-Lo. (Also Idk how you guys seens it, but her combo with doubles always seems to me bigger mess and weaker than her practice triple combos )
Puma Ads with Alina in Japan? Looks like she's on the road of becoming not just russian but global Puma ambassador!!!

It was nice to hear their praise, but grain of salt and all that.... Anyway I had to laugh (in a good way!) at their Sasha assessment. She is by no means their favorite, but they think she is about to win EVERYTHING. (Yes. Yes she is.) Dave was like - "If she lands her jumps then - Goodbye, everybody!"
It's all happening!![]()
When quality stares you straight in the eye, all smiling and radiating with pleasure and new found confidence, how blind and prejudiced do you need to be to not see it?
And still Alina has never competed in the USA. I wonder how the cynics will react when they watch her compete live. With the current visa situation, any US audience should be very glad to be able to watch any Russian skater.

Also, this is precious and I have to bring to Alina's fan thread -

Somebody must have had a lot of time to make this video, but it was definitely worth it. Just love it! :luv17:
