Alina Zagitova

You sure? Coz that birdie doesn't look like a falcon; (but it's not gold&red as phoenix either) :scratch2:

The blue is probably meant to convey lapis lazuli. From wikipedia -

"In ancient Egypt, lapis lazuli was a favorite stone for amulets and ornaments such as scarabs. Lapis jewelry has been found at excavations of the Predynastic Egyptian site Naqada (3300–3100 BCE). At Karnak, the relief carvings of Thutmose III (1479-1429 BCE) show fragments and barrel-shaped pieces of lapis lazuli being delivered to him as tribute. Powdered lapis was used as eyeshadow by Cleopatra.[3][19]

Jewellery made of lapis lazuli has also been found at Mycenae attesting to relations between the Myceneans and the developed civilizations of Egypt and the East."

Cleopatra is to blame for the blue eyeshadow trend!

Of course Alina will fight for her spot on the Olympic team. And of course the ISU should have a rule that the defending champion should get a bye into the Olympics if they remain at a high level of skating through qualifications. The Olympics is in about two and a half years and we don't know who else is going to come on the scene in Russia but I see only Sasha as being ahead of Alina at that point. Maybe Anna. Probably not Alena unless she lands triple axels. I see no reason why Alina won't be on that Olympic team at this point. Alina is GOAT material for sure but this is her chance to build her career into an all-time great career and make a very nice amount of money in endorsements and appearances to provide a better future for her family. Money talks even in figure skating. To me the only thing the could stop her is injuries. But at this point two and a half years from the Olympics she seems in good health and great spirits.

I’m hoping for Alina Sasha and kamila on the Olympic team!

The fact that Sasha only beat Alina by 6 points while she had 4 quads and Alina had 0 quads is insane. It shows just how superb Alina's peformance and skating skills are compared to everyone else :love::love:

Alina was truly anazing today! It's a real pleasure to watch her. I love the dress, somehow it makes her look even taller.

I think she can still get higher score by improving her step seq and spins plus maybe adding 3-3 combo in the second half?

I wish she could hold her ina Bauer longer. I know she can!

That's exactly how a Mischievous Queen would look like

Plutarch on Antony and Cleopatra:

...Antony took her fishing once, but he was frustrated for having bad luck and Cleopatra was there to see, therefore he was pretending it was him who caught the fishes, but instead he got help from his servant, who fastened the fishes to his hook under the water. Antony was frustrated with himself as he was trying to impress Cleopatra with his fishing skills. However, Cleopatra (who was an astute woman) figured Antony's trick and decided to play her own trick on Antony. She invited her friends to come along on the following day and as soon as Antony let down his line, she ordered her servant to fasten to his hook a salted herring.

I wish she could hold her Ina Bauer longer.

That is not allowed; according to Eteri's "Choreo 101 handbook for Alina's programmes by Daniil":
§6.1 No Alina Bauer should be longer than 0.5 sec to keep the audience on the anticipation diet till proper competition comes along, for additional shock value PCS points.

:laugh2:

Just watched Alina's FS properly. Wow with that dress the FS is even better (Thank you, Olga!). I love all these details created with the stones. Beautiful clean skate by Alina. Her smile was radiant throughout :) so nice to see Alina so happy and carefree at a competition.

When she makes it to Beijing, her Olympic LP will consist of nothing but a 4 minute long Ina Bauer held effortlessly. The judges will fling themselves to the ice in tears and fight each other to get to the gold medal to hang it around her neck. It's all part of the plan.
