Scanning through the comments below those and other clips (usually a risky thing to do), it's striking how nearly everybody is being moved to tears. More than a river has been shed in the web space in the past day. What a powerful tribute!

Everything about, over and with Alina so far this season has been done properly and at a high level: promotion, packaging, endorsing, program choices, media appearances. A joint effort by Alina and her coaches, FFKKR, Channel One, her sponsors.

This is how you do it, setting an athlete up to become a star. Now it is up to Alina herself to remain calm and composed, to not let herself being carried away or made nervous. She has everything in place and is fully committed and determined not to let down and have pleasure in skating at the same time.

Reading comments on other forums via google translate moved me to tears [emoji24] all over again.

Excuse me but...what the heck? What did the judges in general think when giving GOE for all the ladies?! The crowd was almost booing when Wakaba's scores were announced and for Alina? What went wrong here? I thought it was me because I'm a casual viewer of FS but the audience seemed to be displeased as well.

I think it was fair to put her behind Aliona, since Kostornaia was cleaner in her SP. Still, I didn't see any UR on her jumps although the combo was a little bit dodgy. Also, I don't get the deduction. Was it the hand down in the StepSq? It would be nice if someone could give some light on this question.

Even with the tinny mistakes I reaallly love Alina's new look - the make up, but also the confidence and calmness she is radiating during her skate. Based on her reaction, I guess that the problem on the combination was just a fluke and nothing to worry about in the long term. I don't know, she seems so different since the Worlds and makes me to root for her so badly!

She received an (e) on the Lutz edge, Loop UR + time violation. Very strict technical panel.
She has never ever got an (e) before, I'm upset, to be honest. And worried. I will watch the combo again, I hope this won't be an issue next time.

Alina had an edge call on the lutz which is a bit harsh. Even in the slow-mo its clearly flat. As for the time violation, I've timed that the music lasts for 2:51. The rules state that it must be under 2:50. I dont know what her coaches were doing.

It's a little shocking....I came out of that program thinking everything looks so smooth and confident. I still think it does, and Alina is so used to her content now that the idea of Lz-Lo doesn't scare her at all. Every jump is solid and her spins are perfect. PCS and performance as a whole is perfect and refined too. She has over two years now to add a little more tech which is plenty of time. I'm quite excited to see what they do frankly because all the signs are great. :)

Oh, I see now. That's a bad mistake. One point less for 1sec.

Okay, but what are the GOE calls on her opening combo? They range from -5 to 1 (!!!), and aside from that, the judge that gave her -5 only gave her 4s and 5s the rest of the skate (so clearly not going against her).

The judging across competitions this year is so so tough with edge calls, UR, spins and stsq from this year. I wonder what changed.

I’m still mad. 1 point for 1 seconde ?????

However, I’m content with the placement both Alena and Alina skated well but were not really clean. There’s room for improvement and it’s their first GP assignation this season.
