Alina Zagitova

Thank you for supporting Alina there! Some people say Alina wasn’t skating as good as before, like she was tense? I didn’t see it even considering difficult skate. Can you share your live opinion, was energy lacking or smth like that ?

She was a bit more tense than say at test skates (which I saw on video, not live), but it was still a great skate! She was not lacking anything, she just made an error on her opening lutz - that happens to everyone, including the best. :)

Her presence on the ice is unmatched, she commands your attention and draws you in! She had some hiccups here coupled with some questionable judging, but she's fine.
She will iron out these hiccups in no time, it's nothing to worry about.

What a great safe on the first 3Lutz! During the competition I had the impression that it was a fall but then when they repeated it, I thought wait..it isn't an actual fall and I was glad that they didn't add any deduction for it. I haven't checked her edges yet but at least a ! could be more reasonable than an (e). Funny, how those edges float from inside-outside overnight! If it was only that easy to change technique, I don't think that so many ladies would suffer from wrong edges.

It was interesting to see how after the messed up jump, her soft and calm radiation disappeared and she turned on the beast mode. It's quite telling that she still has the motivation to skate her best. I was sure that she would add the 3Lo in the second part and although it was obvious that she was a little bit hesitant during the transition, she still didn't give up. I am not sure if I agree with the UR on the 2nd Lutz though, but as I said I haven't watched the landings closely yet.

I was also happy that her StepSq got a level 4 because a lot of people (me inclusively) were worried about the smaller ice coverage.

And did you notice how long she kept her final position? The deduction from yesterday has clearly rattled her a bit and there's no one who could convince me in the opposite.

I think they did not call it a fall just because the day before Nathan didn’t get the fall for his 3A either. He was even closer. Crowd was already shocked with her score enough.

I believe they changed the rules about Step sequences a bit, didn’t they? Eteri is queen of rules. When she said it’s fine, it is. No one can use rules that much in their favor in programs as Team Tutberidze.

She absolutelly killed it with that Lz-Lo combo. If she had or hand not flat add, I also didn’t check yet, but it would be the same it it will be just single Lz. (It’s only funny she got there all Lz called and none in Japan  ) i was wondering if she will change her entry now when it will be combo, but no. She’s a queen.

Of course, we noticed, as a lot of other things. Particularly for the time violation call, it's obvious that it was affected her. She was 1-2 sec ahead of her music during the entire program to assure that they will not find something to make another one. Personally I consider the call in SP beyond ridiculous. This is an example of how bad judging can affect you. Yes, she wants to skate for fun and enjoy it but she is competitive, she wants to win to make the GPF, etc. There is no room to say I don't care, I wil take all the violation, all the wrong edge calls.

Tiffany & Alina

Tiffany's mum:
...as Tiff is sharing a room in Grenoble with Zagitova, I have had the good fortune of being able to see her very close up. She has blown me away with how beautiful she has become!

Also she is also such a nice girl!

There is a huge lot of news, articles and blog postings about Alina in the Russian press, in all shades between praise and gloom, I don't know where to begin even.

I'll try to make a selection and resume these here ...

Bring the praise, forget the gloom.

And because it can't be said enough - "For me, second place is not a disappointment at all. Some people are already beginning to (say): don’t be upset. But why should I be upset at all? I don’t understand. I’ve said 150 times that the main thing for me is to go out on the ice, no matter what place. Place for me is not an incentive at all now.” - Alina Zagitova after winning silver at the Grand Prix of France.

There are some people in RLT that think she deserved the bronze medal. SMH.

The reality is Alina can skate as well or better than last year and still not win many gold medals because the competition is tougher. But whatever happens we should enjoy her performances and all the quality she has improved on since the Olympic games.

I admire Alina's poise and composure in competition, and her off-ice ability to stay on the high road despite all the challenges she is currently facing. I hope the abnormal judging in France was a one-time occurrence. Should that not be the case, which procedural avenues does the Russian Federation have to appeal unfair judging of her performances?

I don't know the answer but I'm not sure Alina would want them to do that. I don't think the negativity it would generate would be worth it. Can you even imagine the amount of - "Well what about when _____ was called on ______ skater?" "What about her PCS?" "What about this?" "What about that?"

My head hurts just thinking about it.

Neither Alina or any member of her family has ever uttered a single word about any unfairness that has been inflicted on her (on or off the ice) since she won the Olympics. I don't see them starting now.

I do agree that if something truly outrageous happens then her Fed should protect her and lodge a protest or make an inquiry. But as her fan I'm cringing at the thought of the backlash she would get from it.

When I think back to Worlds last season and remember how everything sorted itself out, I'm more relaxed about this season's journey.

I browsed a little (via Google translation) and it seems that not everyone's negative, but I'll wait for your translations.

The good thing is that I already heard the most important one, the one said by Alina herself:love:. All the others are side dishes.:)
