Alissa Czisny | Page 4 | Golden Skate

Alissa Czisny

Czisny scored 62.53 in her short program and 101.61 in her free skate (there was just one other competitor). She was required to be monitored by USFS at a sanctioned competition prior to her Grand Prix events (China and Japan).

Does the above mean if Alissa had scored really low at this test skate she would not get any Grand Prix Events? I never knew that some skaters were required to be monitored.

Her "practice" dress actually looked pretty good for West Side Story, but she will have to get somthing white for the Swan. I hope her dresses are finished soon! thanks for the pictures.
Just so she wears a red glove.

The U.S. Team B & C envelope skaters are now required to skate in at least one summer competition -- mostly to help them with determining and improving IJS levels in their programs, for example. Alissa also mentions this in her latest journal entry.

Alissa Czisny has written a new journal entry (Sept. 20) for her official site: http://www.figureskatersonline.com/alissaczisny/journal/2007-september20.html
OK, first things first, LOL. Did you check out the picture on the front page on the right in the black and white hat and scarf? A professional fashion shot, right?

Scroll down, and the mystery is revealed:

"My only nonskating week this year was during the week of Skate Detroit in July. I spent that week in New York City and participated in an acting and modeling competition. I went there with an acting and modeling group from an agency in Detroit with whom I train."

Did she win a prize (a contract?) in the modeling contest? When can we expect her galleries to be updated?

"My coach brought her youngest son along; his goal was to be on television! He did accomplish that goal, on European TV anyway; we had him sit in a certain spot in the stands during my Don Quixote exhibition program, where I would go over to the audience and flirt a little and then throw snow from my blades towards someone over there. He, unknowingly, was in that very seat. We found the tape of it on a Euro sport station that someone had put onto YouTube….he looked quite surprised!"

Interesting that Tom Collins told her to drop her exhibition program and do the Audry Hepburn LP instead. I guess Collins figured, we already have the all-time charming program right here in front of us, why fool around?

I'd really like to see the rest of that photoshoot. I was looking in her Gallery section from time to time when the site was updated to see if they'd add them to the gallery.

She really has a body that won't quit, and with looks to match, she had to have done well for that modeling gig.

I would love to see her Don Q. That music sparkles and I've seen her sparkle in Atlantic City and St Johns.

Question: There are 7 big contenders for the US World Team. Only 3 will make the team. Will she be one of them?

(btw, who were the Pairs team in those pictures. The kid looks like he has strength and she looks like she's not going to be afraid.)

completely speculation on my part but I wonder if he didn't like Don Q because a certain skater choreographed it, and he and Collins AFAIK haven't gotten along since they very early 90s...

Wow she sounds so buzy. But did she really need to go to a spin clinic. That is what she does well. She needed a jump clinic.

maybe she felt that if she perfected what she's already good at she can gain points there and not worry about when she falls... *shrugs*

Actually she said she assisted with a spin clinic... so my guess is that she served as 'demonstrator' since her spins are so good...
