All Brian Joubert News!

the level at Euros is the best in the world (obviously he's not referring to the ladiezzzzz!).

Thanks for the interview B! I don't want him to run into any more bad luck this season!

As for the quite above, I dunno, maybe he's referring to them all but is temporarily blinded by the European ladies' beauty to see the actual level.:laugh: Isn't that what some keep claiming about the judging of the euro ladies?

Yes, Buttercup,he will not go to the opening ceremony. He has said it in "«7 to Poitiers»; also that he took gastroenteritis in Courchevel and that now he is 70 % of his potential.

PS: Thanks to Ollynn by found this magazine ...

Thanks for this as well. It is so interesting to read that the low reward and the pressure of high risk for quads is also getting to a guy like Joubert, who is known for his quads. If the base value of quad is not fixed after the olympic season, I fear it will really be off the menu. What kind of non-sense is that?

Lol, on Verner's NBC Olympic bio it said he played a lot of soccer when he was young, but then chose to stick with figure skating, because the girls were pretty .

There are a lot of great men in Europe, but also Japan and the US. Jumps aside, the Euro ladies may be the best, but in the jump department, not so much (we need a new Slutskaya).

Heard Russia will be producing a string of mini Slutskaya by the next one or two years. lol It should be exciting. Guess another lady will won the Euro with shabby 3-4 triple programs. Granny did great at national, so she maybe reclaim the euro title.

That's if there bodies don't change completely before then and they lose their jumps. Polina Shelepen is being hyped up now but her landings are already shaky and she has super long legs and is stick thin, in two year's she'll probably be Kostner's height and have major consistency issues. Anna Ovcharova and that little Elizavetta girl seem really good though, but again time will tell. People thought Caroline, Mirai, and Kimmie were going to be the next big things and they have all been struggling recently, though hopefully they are nearly through with it.

Can't have just updates on the American skaters and the Southparking of various skaters in the Plushenko thread (where's my John Kerr one?!).

So, here's a link to a short interview with Brian in Le Matin. Not much new, but:
  • Brian says having Lambiel and Plushenko at Euros will make things more exciting, and names them along with Verner and the other French skaters as medal contenders (but not Contesti).
  • On spins - he's not very flexible so he needs help to improve them, thus the work with Lucinda Ruh.
  • Re the injury, he's concerned about the time lost and missing two opportunities to test himself against other skaters (GPF, Nats). He said the same doctor treated him both with this injury and in 2007 so he had previous experience...

Thanks B! I am really hoping Brian will have a good outing in Euros and do a lot of confidence boosting just before the olympics. I think it'll be just perfect..

Ok, I didn't forget the Kerr, I'll be working on Stojko and Kerr today. Kerr in kilt, Stojko in raw battle outfits.

I was wondering how he's doing with his injury and it sounds okay now. Good for him. So is it completely healed now?

I understand he worries about the lost time, but Takahashi lost the whole season but is still okay. So I hope he just does not let him bother.

Time for an update i suppose. Let's not keep all the news to ourselves or wait for Seniorita for any juicy "stuck in confined spaces with Jouby" gossip.. :):)
Apparently Joubert is going to his books in Poitiers and is changing his jump strategy. He's dumping quad salchow and is planning to fit 2 quad toes and 2 triple axels in his long programme. He'll be working on this for the next three weeks. He will skip the training in Indienapolis before the olympics and will directly proceed to Vancouver.

Thanks! Where did you get the information from?

That's a wise decision! Wish him forget about the Euros and good luck in Vancouver! Thank you so much, Schiele!

Natacha, this is from passion patinage forum, all the update info about brian is there.. Unfortunately google translator is not doing a great job..

Also, if you read Seniorita;s reports, she mentioned she saw Jouby in the shopping mall and he was being shot by a camera crew. Here is the footage from that:

Oh and may I just say, around 2.40 in the video :love::love::love::love::love:

Yeah, but he has never done this jump layout, I think. So it will be a totally new thing for him in competition. And we all know how great he is with (new) jump layouts.

I think he is done. Stick a fork into him.

He's done 2 4Ts plenty of times, though not recently. I don't know about adding a second 3A, but I really don't see how this jump layout in beyond him - certainly it's more realistic than putting in a 4S, which he hasn't landed in competition in years.

And, seriously, considering the last few years, I'd think people would have learned to never write off Brian Joubert. He was much worse at 2006 Olys, 2008 Euros, 2009 TEB etc. - and bounced back nicely. He might surprise us yet again.

(well, I certainly hope so) :)

I was wondering why he has not used this layout before, I mean he has great quad (and the most consistent among the others) and big 3axel.
The problem with new layouts is that you need to have two backup plans in case something goes wrong and remember them as well.

Medusa you are too harsh. Joub just had a bad Lp, actually me watching it live it didnt look bad, he just did mistakes.
It is better to have the bad skate now and get it out of his system for Olys.

Thats why I m worried about Plush more, lol!I think euros were a good test for the trio on podium, they will know what to do now.

I wonder if there is any other skater who has been written off so many times before and still managed to come through every time.. ;)

Darlings, I only write him off, so that he can surprise me.

But seriously, it's not looking good. Seniorita, you write that he just had a bad skate; but the bad news is that in the past three years he had maybe one or two good long program skates. I am not sure if he can manage to pull himself together.

Hon, we're aware of it.. Nevertheless, trying to keep a positive attitude here as the believers of the "Joubert-spirit".. :) Good LP or not, he still managed to get it together overall to make him podium many times (almost every time actually) so I still hope he'll be able to do so in 3 weeks as well..

Joubert's career has more or less been built on strong SPs, going back at least to his first Euros medal. He has to skate better in Vancouver than he did last week, but as Schiele noted, despite not being a consistent LP skater, he's managed to get himself on the podium at major events before - more so than most of the other men, in fact - and one can only hope that he will manage this again... ;)

I also have to point out that several other skaters in this field are dealing with chronic and persistent injuries, while Joubert may well be in better shape a few weeks from now than he was in Tallinn.
