Good luck to Alysa at Nationals.

I hope she can skate clean without her big jumps and that will propel her into next season the Olympic season. She will need her quad and triple axel back then. But competing at this Nationals going for a three-peat without her weapons may actually help make Alysa a better skater. It can be done remember kamila at last year's JGPF did not have her big guns and still won going away because she skated wonderfully. Alysa needs to take this opportunity without her big guns to show everybody she has improved a lot as a skater in the long run.

In the end I want Alysa beating puberty and fulfilling her vast potential.

Alysa was amazing today :love:. Her speed has improved so much and I loved her whole presentation in performance, as well as her whole look. She has so much charisma.
Alysa said after her SP that she has been working on her skating skills a lot during the time she was injured, since she was not allowed to jump. The work really paid off.
Her jump technique also looked much more secure. Whatever Massimo and Jeremy are doing with her, 100% works! I am so happy for Alysa after the tough time she had earlier during the season.

Thank you for sharing the links! She really looked fantastic today - she's come so far, even without the 3A, and is still such a delightful ray of sunshine.

i think she has done just that. we still have the long to go and that can be a very different ballgame, but Alysa really proved a lot last night. she's still here to fight and claim her spot among the best in the US. she has a very bright future if she keeps improving like she has.

A beautiful program. Especially the step sequence was amazing. Alysa's StSq was the highest scored tonight.
After having massive growth spurts and recovering from a recent hip injury, Alysa fought today and I am so proud and happy for her. She never lost her joy during the program. It was really a close competition. 2 points away from silver.

A very nice performance certainly worthy of a silver medal. Finishing fourth? Damn. They really held Alysa not having her big jumps against her. I mean do they not want this gem on the Olympic team in a year? If they keep scoring her like this she may not make the team.

But overall everything is getting better with her skating. I thought not having her big jumps would force her to improve other aspects of her skating and that has happened. Alysa looks leaner too. I like what I saw.

2) Was the 2018 CCIA Competition FS on 6/10/18 the first time Alysa landed her 3A in competition...https://youtu.be/e1JPwYERPJM? Was this an ISU-sanctioned event? Does anyone know what the scoring on this 3A+2T combination was? Positive GOE? Any calls on it?

3) The 2018 Asian Open Trophy FS on 8/3/18 was the first time Alysa landed her 3A in international competition, correct...https://youtu.be/W7dDtsi1wrw?t=87?

4) Alysa hadn't landed her 4Lz in any competitions prior to the 2019 Aurora Games FS and 2019 JGP Lake Placid FS, correct?

5) Is there any footage, e.g. from training, of Alysa landing her 4Lz prior to those two competitions?

To answer your questions:

1. Yes, although her former coach said that she started training 3A back in 2017.

2. Yes, and it was a domestic unofficial event. Her dad said in a youtube comment that the 3A+2T recieved 7 +1s and 2 +2s. It was marked as clean.

3. Yes. She became the youngest lady to do so.

4. Alysa actually had landed 2 quad lutzes at broadmoor open a couple weeks before, (a domestic, non-ISU event) although one of them recieved a <.

5. Before the 2019 nationals, she attempted 2 quad lutzes at the pacific REGIONAL championships, she popped one into a single and underrotated and fell on another. After that, there were some successful 4Lz attempts in training.

Any updates on Alysa? I know at Nationals she said her 3A was almost consistent then.

I’m excited to see her compete. Hopefully at Skate America next season.
 
I haven't heard anything about her in quite a while. I hope this means she's working hard and will be better than ever! It would be great to see the triple axel back as well as seeing her skating skills improve even more. I wonder if she'll be chosen for Nebelhorn? She'll be a senior in the fall and so will be eligible, right? It would be a real triumph to see her win the third Olympic spot for the US.
 
no updates usually means working hard. i'm positive she will want to make a splash on the senior circuit next season in the hunt for an olympic spot.
 
Hello longtime lurker and first time poster here.

I have watched figure skating on and off over the years, usually around the Olympics. It was actually Alysa who got me to follow figure skating more closely than I ever have. When I heard that a 13 year-old was the Ladies National Champion, I said “I’ve got to see this.” I watched her performances and found the joy she exuded infectious. I cried with her when she found out she won (even though I already knew she had). Well then, I started watching the other US ladies, then the men, and soon started watching skaters outside the U.S. Over the last couple of years, I’ve been “catching up” on what’s been happening in singles skating since the 2018 Olympics and of course have followed Alysa’s debut as a junior internationally. I can’t wait for her senior debut.

So Alysa posted to her Instagram about being at the US Olympic and Paralympic Training center several days ago.

Just wondering, what are possible reasons that she would spend a week there? Working with specialists? USFS wanting to see how she’s progressing? At any rate, I am rooting for her and would love for her to be chosen to compete at Nebelhorn.

From the layout it looks like it will be her FS, but she did not mention if it was. Just my guess.
