Alysa Liu is one of five children raised by her father and his partner, and is of Chinese descent. She will be eligible for the Junior Grand Prix circuit in 2019-2020.
Alysa is working on the triple axel and has landed it in practice in combination with triple toes. She's also stated that she'd like to learn quads soon as well, and that she will be competing as a senior at the 2019 US Nationals.
I'm very excited about her and think she is one of the best skaters in the country, even at age 12! The future looks bright in the skates of this young girl

Actually, she won’t be eligible for the Junior Circuit before 2019-2020 season. She turns 13 one month too late.
Either way, she’s potential to become a great skater. I look forward to seeing how she’ll grow.

Whoops, still thought we were in 2016-2017. Obviously I am in denial about some things... :laugh2:

Lol it’s ok. Not easy to keep track of everything. ;) If the next season is going well for her, I wonder if she’ll be allowed to compete in senior for next year Nationals? Or do they have specific requirements for it?

Typically, a junior skater may compete in seniors, if she tests up. It would be Alysa's choice. Michelle Kwan tested up at the age of 12.

It is common for the junior champion to compete as a senior the following season.

There are no age limits to competing [at US Nationals]. The terms "novice", "junior", and "senior" refer to the level of skating, not the age of the competitors. Therefore, competitors on the senior level do not have to be old enough to compete internationally on the senior level, and competitors on the junior level do not have to be young enough to compete internationally on the junior level.

Next season Alysa would still be ineligible for JGPF and Junior Worlds, BTW, because of her age.

This girl is a serious talent. At some moments i thought she trains at Eteri's camp: difficult entries, confident jumps, nice spins. She was the best at the US Nationals, including seniors.

She does not have ISU personal best scores yet as she has never competed internationally. However, her domestic personal bests are:
SP: 63.83 (2018 US Junior Nationals)

Thanks for posting this Spiral for miles! It just tickles me still that she's from my home town of Richmond, CA. If she makes it to Olympics, I think she will be the first from Richmond!

I don't want to turn this into a debate but I sincerely hope she doesn't turn out anything like Eteri camp, more like a Michelle Kwan type with smooth lines and graceful flow.

No worries, she has the innate musicality that most Eteri camp skaters do not have or choose to ignore.

this girl has such amazing spins. She has a musicality too and the big jumps are consistent at a young age. I hope she won't lose any jumps or become less consistent as she grows. She could be a real force on the JGP. It's really too bad she isn't age eligible for JGP until 2019. We must wait so long to see how she really stacks up against the best in the world!

wow! I wonder if she's going to eventually go for quads like Trusova.

I just hope she doesn't hurt her body. But it's pretty exciting, she probably wants to include it in her programs next year! Since I assume she is eligible for JGP/JW?

She is eligible for the first time in 2019-2020.

On the 3A, good rotation speed but that one was way under.
