Alysa Liu

Talk about a.wild time! The audience was totally out of control! My ears still hurt. It was fun to cheer Alysa on and get into clapping when it switched to the fast music. She was having a great.time out there and took us on the journey with her. What a night of skating. Those last 2 groups were crazy.

Alysa has an interview during Worlds with one of the Japanese media outlets Sportiva Shueisha (reporter Mie Noguchi), and it's such a good read. Machine translation should work quite well.

such a great interview! i love that she's trying to get Nathan to come back  i'd be surprised if she's successful with that one!

as exciting as it would be to see her do 3A and maybe quads again, i'm really nervous she'll get injured again or even burnt out. i think the 3A is one thing, but her technique on her quads was not great and it's no wonder she was having back pain. if she was able to maintain proper strength (which she seems to be monitoring, which is great) but also rework technique (i don't have a lot of faith on this one), then maybe. it's so incredibly difficult to rework technique at her age when you've been doing it that way your whole life...Mao Asada comes to mind. regardless, i greatly admire her mindset and perspective on skating and competing and i hope no matter what she keeps enjoying it and stays healthy. even if USFS pushes her now as their savior, i hope it doesn't get to her.

it's crazy how much she improved throughout this season. just went back and watched her FS from Budapest Trophy and she has truly turned into one of the world's top skaters. i still can't believe her first season back in two years ended in being world champion. here it is:

Thanks for posting this. In addition to cleaning up rotations and her improvement in stamina, her jump layout evolved as well as the music cuts. And I'm glad she swapped the updo for the ponytail!
