Alysa Liu

What a charming interview! I think Boomer was charmed, too. :)

It seems pretty definite that she will be looking to bring back her triple Axel next season.

Interesting bit about the Beijing Olympics and her dad's political situation. I thought about that when it was announced last week that she was assigned to the China event in the Grand Prix for next year.

Nice interview! And she was "chill".
Sge was! I liked her comments about the performance aspect being th most important to her. Winning a medal -- not so high up as motivating factor. I also appreciated how she answered the interviewer's question about whether she felt extra pressure at the Team Trophy event, where her teammates were counting on her.

She said, "No pressure -- , I was counting on them!"

Alysa will be featured in the Pirouette World Edition No.3, the article is titled "what the hell" which is... different 🤔

Fresh off her world title, USA's Alysa Liu is stepping into the new season with equal parts excitement and challenges. In this candid interview, the U.S. Champion opens up about the unusual struggles she's faced with her skates, how it feels to compete when her jumps "just don't feel normal," and why pushing through fear often brings out her best.

Away from the rink, Liu reflects on a whirlwind off-season filled with media events, travel, and chance encounters with celebrities ranging from Megan Thee Stallion to Summer Olympians and even the Real Housewives cast in France. She also talks about discovering new favorite artists like Lévi—whose music she now dreams of skating to on Olympic ice—and her lifelong admiration for Lady Gaga's bold creativity.

Liu reveals details about her evolving costumes, ambitious technical upgrades (including a triple Lutz–triple loop), and her excitement about returning to China for the Grand Prix, a place that feels like home thanks to her family roots and love of Sichuan cuisine.

Funny, fearless, and refreshingly open, Liu shows exactly why she's one of skating's most compelling voices—not just on the ice, but off it too.

Shes so funny and unfiltered. I hope she gets her boot issues figured out! Her gaga songs seem to mean a lot to her and her performance was already giving in September so I can't imagine by the time its olympics how good it will be.

Really nice interview with Alysa about trajectory of her career. From forcing herself to continue skating to now genuinely loving the sport is so nice to see.

One of her best performances of Promise at gp china. Really a perfect Olympic program, I know the circumstances of her changing it back was horrible, but this truly is the best showpiece for her maturity.

I'll use my VPN to share the ISU feed video so hopefully more people can see her fantastic free skate. Congrats on her first GP medal!

And her FS for fellow Americans

I was saying that as I watched her skate. If that's not an Olympic SP, I don't know what is. Perhaps the universe was intervening, dreadful as the reason may be. Life can operate that way. But even when she was skating it at Worlds, I said she should make it her Olympic SP. It's that beautiful. Hauntingly so.
