American Idol - Season 7

Totally agree, Lad............42

Fantasia the singer? Ewwww.....even the look on Simon's face said everything. She is terrible. I can't believe she was the American Idol winner a couple of seasons back. They must have been hard up for talent. I had to turn to a different station while she was screaming. Talk about "nails on a chalk board." At least David A. can sing!!!

I totally disagree with both of you... Fantasia is a traditional R&B singer with a modern twist and I simply love her music and her story is very "American Success Story" and that's what the original concept of American Idol was based on - giving opportunities to kids who might not otherwise have the chance... and that's awesome!

I am surprised that no one has made a comment regarding last nights show. As I have said before I like both of the guys so whoever wins is OK with me. The only thing I wanted to say about last nights show is that I wished Cook had blown everyone away. He seemed almost a little out of it last night.

I didn't see the show on Tuesday, was at work... and honestly I wasn't bummed I missed it... I just didn't get into the show this year... I liked Jason but wasn't overly excited about him or anything...

anyway I do believe the right David won... his reaction was so sweet... I do like him, I'm just not crazy about his genre so I won't be purchasing his albums... but I hope he has better success than the other two male winners.

I like Fantasia's story. It's her singing voice that doesn't work for me. She's on-pitch, but it's usually squeaky as though she's just inhaled some helium.

That having been said, her version of Summertime remains the best Idol performance IMHO.

I could have picked the winner because most of the time the one I think is the worst wins.

I agree with Buttercup......while Fantasia's story is heartfelt and inspiring, her singing has evolved, for me, from bluesy R and B to a shrieking performance level that I don't find entertaining. This is based soley on the performance I saw. My opinion of course. Others may like her singing and stage presence and that's fine.................42

I saw nothing different as far as her style the other night... it annoyed me when she was on teh show and it annoys me now...

As I have mentioned before I liked both Davids. The reason I'm glad that Cook won is that he is more mature and I think can handle the hardships of that kind of life. David A. is still very young. If he were 3-5 years older, I may have been upset with the win. I think David A. needs to be a young kid for a while longer. I do hope that David A. will have a career in music in the future. For some reason he reminds me of a young Josh Groban and I hope everyone here knows how much I love Josh.

I didn't know this about Luke Menard. I wish him well.

Luke Menard

Also forgot to mention that David Cook audtioned in Omaha Nebraska. I think that's why he won!!!!!!

Just replied to your PM Dee4707.

Sorry to hear about Luke, but can you believe I don't even remember him!?!? Sheesh, my mind is going!

I think David C. is more versatile than David A.

I do think David A. did really well on the final night of competition, even though he still is not my preference of the two.

I agree....

David A. did not win - Drats. Oh well, I am sure he has a singing career ahead of him. I guess David Cook was the "dark horse." Good for him!!

I know it gets argued every year, but Carrie Underwood and Kelly Clarkson had good voices on teh show and have improved with each year since... Carrie's been on fire for a while and she just keeps getting better...

I don't think it's fair to say most of the top vocalists on the show can't sing... yes there are people not on the show who can do it better but that's how the mainstream music biz is right now... the 'whole package' does not include best voice in the world... just a marketable one (hey CDs are all doctored anyway)

Uhhhh did I mention before that David Cook audtioned in :agree: Omaha Nebraska :agree: and that's why he won???

Off topic question...Toni, what is your avatar?? I've been trying to figure it out.

Further on David A. - Maybe it's a good thing he did not win the Idol title. He is a much better singer than Cook, but needs someone like a David Foster to nurture his talent and promote him to better things. As someone pointed out, he is still very young and needs the maturity to really develop his style. Winning American Idol is not everything and not winning American Idol is not the end of the world either. I think David A. will find his own way in the music industry.

David A didn't look horribly disappointed at losing...he almost looked a bit relieved. This might be the best thing for him. Now he can develop his talent without the pressure of being the "winner".........best of luck to both Davids. There's room in the music business for both of their different but special singing talents..............42

I agree. I think that because they are so different, that they really did get along. David A. is a sweet kid, (maybe a little too sweet somtimes) and he will probably get a contract.
