I think it was a big miskate to have singers and actors do the show with pro skaters because it isn't easy for them to learn how to do a simple moves like backward cross overs and a single jump. They should have had pro hockey players pair up with pro figure skaters instead. The hockey players already know how to do all the basic moves and they are probably quite capable of learning the jumps in a short period of time and I think they can attract a lot of hockey fans as audience as well as figure skating fans. what do you guys think?

That's an interesting thought, but it would pretty much limit the figure skating pros to women, since the pro hockey players, at least those who would attract a lot of hockey fans, would pretty much be men. I don't follow hockey; I suppose there must be women pro hockey players somewhere, but how much of a following do they have?

I thought Skating With Celebrities was entertaining because the non skaters were pretty bad. I had a problem with the title though since like 99.9% of the celebrities on there were B-listers or C-listers that I had never heard of and were trying to regain their long lost 15 minutes of fame. After the playboy scandal Debra Gibson's career died and I think she went on there to try to get some publicity. They should use A-list celebrities who most people have actually heard of and I would enjoy seeing Paris Hilton or Britney Spears attempt to skate and then have a diva moment. And then they take a super talented actor such as Tom Hanks, Robert DeNiro or Brad Pitt and put him on skates, it would be just fun to watch them in practice crashing.

I quite agree. :agree: Perhaps Daniel Craig for that matter. Yes, my screen-name is Daniel Craig. Could anyone guess I am a fan? Would he be considered A-list? Especially since he has been in James Bond. But for the sake of entertainment Pierce Brosnan will be funnier to watch fall all over the ice.

Trouble is the A-listers are always busy with projects and even if they weren't their PR people would probably strongly advise them not to do such a show.

I want to see Kristi Yamaguchi  and Bret Hedican!

That might be a problem as they "don't skate like together, together." It was a quote from Kristi re: if she and Bret skate ever skate together. ;)

I don't know if you could get any pro hockey player to figure skate because it is not considered manly enough. Though it would be funny to see -- a burly man weighing 200 lbs do a sit spin.

But I think it would be very interesting to see and the show would be big hit. The pro hockey players are very talented athletes, I am sure they can learn jumps pretty quick. Also some of the hockey players can already do the basic moves like brackets and twizzels.

Hmm..interesting concept however, our Canadian Hockey players would never go for it - their fans either. It's kind of funny here in Canada, Hockey players often take skating lessons from the likes of Karen Magnussen but they would never admit in public they set foot on a figure skating session. They think figure skating is for sissies. But then you never know - I wonder what the Great One (Wayne Gretsky) would think?

I really want to see Sydney Crosby and Sasha Cohen together!! I am sure Sydeny can lift Sasha pretty easy and do a simple throw double jump? Trust me, I am pretty sure that the hockey fans would watch this show.. I mean, Dancing with the Stars are big hit in the US and I am sure some big sport fans who would never watch such shows usually are watching because their favorite football players are on the show. Plus the last show they did was pretty bad.. I mean the celebrities really couldn't skate that well and it was painful to watch. A simple Waltz jump won't cut it to entertain the tv audience. They have to do a lot more than that to impress the audience. Some of the hockey players used to be figure skaters, such as Paul Kariya. I am sure he can learn to do a double jump or a side by side double jump or very complicated moves. what do you think?
