Anastasia Tarakanova

She did fantastic and of course she made it to Nationals with this bronze medal. She just needed top 5 to guarantee a spot into Nationals. She also scored over 190. One thing I hope she changes in the LP is her ChSq. The base value for this element is 3.00 and she only got 0.50 here. She just skates through this element. I remember before she would usually get over 1.00 for this element by actually doing some choreo work. She has great skating skills and every point matters, especially heading to Nationals. But, so happy to see her beaming with happiness. I think she is competing in a few days now in the Moscow local competition. Good luck to her there!

She is back!! And qualified to RusNats!!! I can't be happier today. TES is EXTREMELY GOOD, 71 with only a small trouble on the 3F and there is room for improvement on the PCS, although 59 is very low.
But she is here, she is back, better than ever. And we will see more of her.
Congrats to Nastya!

The PCS score is what worries me. She got exactly 60 PCS in the last stage and now dropped despite skating much better than last time around. Her spins were all level 4. Also, her step sequence is level 4 and she skates so fast around the rink. Wish she was closer to a 65 PCS score.

Nastya & Eteri elbow-bumping at the VC :)

I think the consistently low PCS is political, but when she was on the podium, she had a brief exchange with Gorshkov and looked really happy with whatever he told her, so maybe she is working her way back into the Fed's good graces.

At any rate, she skated really well, cleaning up the mistakes she made at Stage 4. It looks like she's still building up her stamina, too. As she gets stronger, she will probably do better. A 3-3 in the SP instead of that 3-2 would help, as well.

But she's going to Nationals, and I think she's good enough to make the top 6. Here's hoping for the best! :cheer:

How well does she have to do at nationals to make the team for next season? I hope it's a possibility!
Divinely well, I think, considering the rivals. Also remember that this season there probably won't be any points for the world standings (apart if they arrange worlds, probably), so the next season, if it would be somehow normal, I doubt she would receive GP entry, so she will need to get into the team once again through nationals.

Yeah, it will be hard to get a GP spot with Usacheva, Gulyakova, Valieva, Kromykh and all those other new girls as well as Sofia, Liza, the 3As, Alina if she competes, and Zhenya. But hey, Panenkova and Sakhanovich each competed at SCI, so she might sneak in somewhere.

If she's scored fairly and skates well while some other girls perhaps struggle a bit, I think she can snag that 6th spot. If there's a season where she can pop in like a ninja, this is it, with so many girls sick or injured. She just has to make the most of any opportunity she gets, and so far, that's exactly what she's done. 💪
