Anastasiia Gubanova

Nastya should get a score of about 200 points to secure a GP spot for next year. She's got two assignments (=two chances). I hope she delivers there because nationals can only help her get a host spot at Rostelecom next year.

I sure hope you are right. But she did great at nationals last year and it did not help her this year.

Because she didn't do great on the JGP circuit. She had only one assignment and got a low score, then she fell short of qualifying for the JWC in spite of her good performances at junior nationals, while Sofia won two JGP golds, qualified for the JGPF and had a high season's best. Nastya should focus on her international competitions because they matter more (except for the Euros and world team selection, at which she has an outside shot).

Senior nationals should mean more than jpg. Nastya hss jpg golds too. And didn't Anastasia a year or two ago set at one time the world record for jpg long program? Either way Nastia is getting better and more experienced and she has to because the competition in Russia is unbelievable. I've never seen one country with so many good to great skaters in one discipline. It is amazing. And when Sasha Alena and Anna go senior next season it will really be crazy.

Thank you for that information. But Nastya finishing 5th at senior Nationals should matter and Sofia finished 12th at senior Nationals that should matter too. But it doesnt. Good luck to Nastya on doing it the hard way. And Gubanova would have done much better than finishing 19th at world's last year like Stasya did if she had that opportunity. I like all these girls its just frustrating how things have worked out for Nastya. Good luck to her in Tallin.

For such young athletes, who don't have a long history of stable performances, it's irrational to take into account last year's achievements as main factor. Moreover, their peers and competitors in just a few months could improved very much (Alina is just a perfect example)

You used the word irrational and I think it's fair to say most of the posters at this forum are irrational when it comes to their favorites and I am no exception to that. ;)

Oh wow Nathan!! Hopefully skating with Nathan inspires her.

I think Nastya is doing a great job this year all things considered.

What do you consider all things Sam? New coach, growth spurt, new city the train in? Nastya seems to be in good form.

hoping Anastasia brings her A game to Tallin this weekend. But she's scared so little this season I'll gladly take her B game.

I almost never quote myself but I will on this occasion because Anastasia did not bring her A-game to Tallinn. She's in fourth place after the short program and needs an excellent long program to get on the podium and maybe steal the gold. I hope it happens but she needs to be skating her best heading into Russian Nationals in 3 weeks because that will be an unbelievable competition.

I heard she finished fourth in Tallin. Very disappointing. Now the pressure on Nastya to do well at Golden Spin.

Most countries would be thrilled to have a 15 year old like Anastasia as one of their top Juniors it's just in Russia there are so many good skaters in this discipline it's unbelievable.

Sad to see her finish off the podium at Tallin. I really thought there was slim chance she wouldn’t make the podium.. :( .

She can bounce back though! Go for it at GoldenSpin!!!

Wow....16yrs old :dbana:

Time sure does fly doesn’t it! Didn’t she learn 3-3 at a very young age? How long has she been doing them?

Happy birthday Anastasia! :agree: Sweet 16. I hope she has the best year of her career from age 16 to 17 and establish yourself as a senior.
