Anastasiia Gubanova

Congratulations for the win Nastia. Not a perfect program but she was amazing as always.

I wonder what will be her 2nd assignment.

I hope she skates clean in her next event, she lost alot of points there. She grew alot since last year and her spins I think have suffered a bit.
I really hope she fixes those 3-3 technique especially on those hammer toe lutz and pitch forward toes in 3-3's.

she has a bit of Gosviani, same coach right ?

Please stop repeating that. Gubanova's coach did not teach Gosviani her jump technique. By the time Gosviani got to Urmanov's group she already mastered her triples.

what is the name of her coach btw ? I know she left Urmanov

Angelina Turenko

thanks, I looked Turenko's bio and wiki, the coach is still young, in her late 20's !!!
I always find it strange in russia, to use alternative names like Anastasia and Anastasiia.

now she uses Anastasiia, I guess to not confuse with the pair skater Anastasia Gubanova. its like using Alexandra and Aleksandra. :dumb:

here is rg Aleksandra Soldatova, an alternative name is Alexandra, I guess there's another Alex

It is not that uncommon because there are a lot of skaters who use double ii on their name. Like these ones.

Dmitrii Kozlovskii
Kseniia Akhanteva
Valerii Kolesov

There are also ukrainian skaters with double "ii" on their name. A while back we had two separate threads about one and the same ukrainian skater, one thread was titled Anastasia as her first name and the 2nd one was titled Anastasiia. Can't recall her last name right now but she was junior from Ukraine.

If not those mistakes, she could take over 10 points. I hope she will be more stable in the future. Amazing skating skills, best in the juniors. Good luck, my angel

I expected a lot. But Anastasiia's free skate is an overwhelming experience. Something that everyone should watch. The music and performance are organic, what incredible drama, brilliant choreography exquisitely executed. It doesn't get any better than this. There is a lot of symbolism in her movement, and one symbol is used to magnificent affect. Example at 1:42 where hands begin together over head, arms open as they are lowered, the blossoming of love. Arms opening as they descend is seen throughout her performance. But nothing could prepare us for the climactic sequence beginning at 3:06, where the music represents swelling of unknown emotion with ascending sets of 4 notes. She jumps, then her arms flail outward as her reeling body is pulled downward, she shows us the emotional turbulence of passion. Then she reaches outward, then pulls her arms to her heart. In just a few seconds she has portrayed the passion of love in all its glory and fulfillment. This is the only moment in skating the sends chills up my spine.

Her short program harkens back to a Russian ballet masterpiece immortalized by Pavlova. Here is a video with classic and modern versions. Compare with Anastasiia's arms. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mRwBwLKC0_g

She did it! :yahoo: Almost makes me wish I had gotten up early for this comp.

What you wrote is only the problem of english transcription in eng wiki. BTW: eng wiki shows also oryginal names in cyrylica and they are the same: Анастасия.
Also Sasha Soldatova name is still without change: Александра

Amazing skate!!!!

I think in last year there was a question who is our favorite Liza Nugumanova or Anastasia Gubanova...My vote went for Anastasia...

Gubanova is an exquisite skater with superior skating skills, but her jump technique is really worrisome.

Princess Anastasia collecting her crown jewels as expected... ;)
Congratulations, your majesty! :bow::love:

Nastya is definately better than Zagitova imo, hope she does well enough to get herself into JGPF and show the whole world what she is capable of.

What a beautiful skater she is. I hope she can fix her jumping technique, especially her lutz looks scary. Reminds me a bit of Caroline Zhang back in 2006 :o I am a bit worried what puberty is going to do to her jumps. It would be a pity, if she'd lose them, because her skating skills and the way she seems to feel the music are outstanding.
