Anastasiia Gubanova

Well, Tursynbaeva w/d from Rostelecom. Did they already fill in a replacement? That would be an easy trip for her for a GP. Would RusFed have the nerve to invite her to their event though? That would be hilarious.
Poor Lilbet. She's been injured for so long. But once you get a back injury it's hard to recover in figure skating or in life.

They should have invited Anastasia. Those 2 new super beautiful programs of hers deserve to be featured in Moscow.

But here is the key question who gets to choose the replacement the Russian federation? Or is it next man up in the world standards?

Speaking of world standings Nastya has not competed internationally for almost 3 years so she's fell off the world rankings. Unreal. 3 years? Unreal. She finished in the top 10 at Russian nationals from the ages of 14 to 17 four straight years a fine accomplishment and yet she has no world ranking. Lol.

I hope they are more sensible in Saint Petersburg and Nastya gets to skate in the Saint Petersburg Cup which she won 2 years ago and finished 2nd last year. Nothing has changed in her life other than what country she represents in sport. She still lives and trains in Saint Petersburg.

I guess I'm the lucky one because the 1000th post in Nastyas thread goes to me. ;) On 2nd glance I guess it went to flanker. Lol.

Interview!
Everything is falling into place for Nastya. She seems very focused and practical. Great luck to her this season and I hope at some point she starts to get scored fairly especially with PCS.

This great score from Anastasiia means that she will move into The Replacement List for GPs right at the top. So if there is anyone that WDs from any GP event this fall, Gubanova will be one of the names to consider for a replacement.
I was wrong before. You need to WIN a Challenger event to get into The Alternate List. That is if I undertand this paragraph correctly:

"Skaters/Couples, who place first in any of the ISU Challenger Series events for 2021/22 and can prove to have
skated the minimum Technical score as mentioned in paragraph 2.3, will be added to the alternate list, bottom
ranked according to their scores."

Gubanova should have chosen to compete today at Denis Ten Memorial. The competition is only Safonova, Ryabova and Shabotova. She could have beaten them.

Instead, she will compete at the Challenger in Austria where Tuktamysheva also will skate, and at the Challenger in Warsaw (head to head with Urushadze), Khromykh will be there.

So the easiest would have been Denis Ten Memorial today...

I was thinking the same thing as you. Why isn't she at the Denis Ten memorial? Nastya skated Finlandis 3 weeks ago alreadg. She needs to go again.

I hope they're not already holding her down in favor of the natural Georgian. It will be hard for Nastya to medal at those other 2 challengers you named. But its doable. the important thing is she will have a world ranking again soon if she doesn't already.

I was reading on one of the Russian websites where Anastasia was asked the question of why did the Georgian figure skating federation choose you? She said something about gliding which was the word in translation. Then she took crap from almost everybody in the comment section about that. Of course that's what it is. She wasn't bragging she was just stating a fact. Yet those in the comments section almost all of them acted like she was an egomaniac for saying that. I think she was just explaining to the readers why the Georgian figure skating federation would be interested interested in her. I don't know maybe she would better off saying nothing and ask for Georgian figure skating. I'm pretty darn sure that Georgian figure skating federation would choose Anastasia because of her skating skills more than her technical ability. That's all she said.

As far as the Grand Prix go it's a shame she's not in any of them she's better than more than half the ladies in every Grand Prix event.

Nastya's scores at Finlandia were a crime against humanity. The Dutch judge rightfully had her third in PCS in the long. I don't know what the other judges were watching.
They were watching beautiful figure skating and maybe they didn't recognize it. ;)

Nastiyas PCS score should always be among the highest and sometimes the highest because isn't the P for presentation? Nastyas scores were held down in Finland and it made no sense unless you believe the Russian Federation has reach everywhere and it wouldn't look good for them if she was scoring like 215 or 220 points.

Either way Finland was something she could build on that is if she ever skates again it's been a month since Finland already. And for a talent like nastya who has skated so seldom in the last two years she really needs to skate at least two events a month this season the really build momentum build her form and let the judges get used to her beautiful skating which is a rarity.

It is such a depressing thing to witness, and I will never make sense of it. I don't know how Russia couldn't see what a treasure they had in her and promote her accordingly. Instead they constantly underscored her and refused to send her to Junior Worlds when she had earned the opportunity.

It's glaringly obvious the system is broken and/or fixed when Gubanova doesn't have the highest Presentation and Interpretation PCS in the event. Nobody in the world is better in these categories.

Well said. I agree 100%. What happened to her career in Russia is perplexing and frustrating and I can't imagine how Nastya feels. She never even got a GP when she had seasons best to do so. Ksenia got 2 GPs this season with no SB. Whaaaaat? But now Nastya must feel much better about everything because she has a new opportunity with the Republic of Georgia and can actually have a career now. It's pretty obvious at this point she will never get the scores she deserves overall scores or PCS scores because judges and federations have her pegged as being such-and-such as a figure skater. Maybe Nastya can change this moving forward but the scoring in Finlandia was ridiculous. They held her down and propped everyone else up big time who skated clean. That's OK but no reason to leave NG out of the mushrooming score fun. :)

Let's see what happens when she skates the Warsaw challenger and the Georgian nationals. We will know within the next month whether she has a real chance at making the Georgia European team Olympic team and world team. I am still concerned that Georgia will favor their native girl Alina. So Nastya has to be considerably better than her to get these opportunities. I would hate to see her get this opportunity only to be shafted again.

I would love to see the Russian federations reaction if nastya got top 5 at Europeans. Or if the Russian federation would be pounding the judges to hold her down. Lol.

At this point let's just enjoy the beauty of Nastyas skating and all she brings with artistry musicality feel and beautiful skating skills. She is a young 18 because she hasn't skated much the last 3 years. ;) Other girls her age have been beaten up by the sport but Anastasia is just getting going.

Happy belated Birthday to Nastya. I hope year 19 is a hell of a lot better for her career than year 18 was or year 17 was or year 16 was. You get the picture.

She hasn't skated in almost 2 months let's see if she can get a few events in before the end of this season she really needs to do that and get the rust off her skating. Things were promising for Nastya at Finlandia but that was a long time ago and she hasn't skated competitively since. She should have realistically skated in 3 or 4 events by now not one. I don't know what's going on but I hope she has some good times ahead. Her 2 new programs are really good and her dresses are wonderful.
