Andrew Torgashev

There’s a super-quick 10 minute interview with Torgs on today’s “This Week in Skating” podcast. He talks a little about his time in Milan and on the SOI tour. When asked about continuing, he sounds very much on the fence saying [in my best paraphrasing] that he's accomplished all of his goals and that he'll see how he feels about preparing for the GP after SOI and some vacation time. His interview starts at about the 13 minute mark.

Happy Birthday, Andrew (a day late, I know)! Last May, he was dealing with the devastation of 2025 Worlds. This May, he is doing Stars on Ice as a result of making the Olympic Team (good finish individually there), plus he finished top 10 at 2026 Worlds. He seems happy in all the SOI photos and videos I have seen, having such wonderful experiences.

I found these great-quality fancams of his SOI programs. What I love most is that without competition requirements, he can do whatever the music calls for, like pausing for emphasis and doing all the little flourishes with his body.

For those with access to Peacock, "Toast to Milan" is happening today (2:00pm Eastern). Based on IG posts, Andrew will appear but may or may not feature that much. I'll probably watch and decide if it's worth talking about or downloading. The description on Peacock says, "Team USA’s figure skating stars reunite to reflect on the top stories and moments from the 2026 Winter Olympics in Milan Cortina, hosted by Adam Rippon."

Andrew is doing a seminar at his home club in Florida on June 3:

Here is his birthday post on IG. If you have IG and can look through what he's tagged in, there are also some sweet birthday wishes from others. The backflip in "harness" may scare you, but the post includes a nicer backflip from an actual show, plus recent pictures.

For the 2026-27 GP, Andrew got Skate Canada and Finlandia Trophy. I don't have strong feelings except that I usually like Canadian camerawork. I don't think Andrew has done either of those before.

Here's a fun video from USFS about Olympians' childhood skating memories. Andrew's and Max's were my favorites. Jumping to different planets in practice (Max) and skating to "I Like to Move It Move It" at five years old so quickly he finished 30 seconds early and did the longest scratch spin of his life (Andrew).
