I'll always remember him as Matlock (I didn't grow up watching reruns of the Andy Griffith show). He was always so charming to listen to. It's such a bummer to not see the media mourn as they have for certain other celebs lately who were more troubled and not that great on the role model scale. Andy's passing isn't even a footnote in most broadcasts. :disapp:

RIP, Mr. Griffith. You were truly one of the best!

I didn't follow the show regularly, but I remember the theme song, which I no doubt whistled through countless times. RIP, Andy.

I think they are making a fuss, Toni--thank goodness. He was older and lived quietly, so there would be likely to be less hoopla than there was for poor Whitney Houston, for example. But I noticed that every online news page I went to had a sizable picture of him, and people on the TV programs talked about him. Especially nice for the TV channels to show a word from Ron Howard, who got his start on Griffith's show. Like you, I found Griffith charming to listen to.

huh, I didn't see ANY coverage on TV... online yes, but not on TV...

I did, on the morning shows. I missed the evening news shows last night, so I can't vouch either way.

It was definitely on the evening news in my area. I actually found out about his passing because we turned on the news and then I had to go to the internet to read more. Also, all of the evening entertainment news shows covered it.

I didn't watch Matlock. However, I did watch the re-runs of The Andy Griffith Show after school when I was a kid. So, he is part of my childhood memories. I hope his passing was peaceful.
