Angelina and Ilia finished 22nd out of 28 in the Short Dance, with a score of 58.10.
Here is what I wrote in the competition thread during the Warm-Up:
Angelina and Ilia holding hands and waving with their spare hand as they go through the door. And then a thumbs up from Ilia as they pass the camera.
When the Warm-Up starts and the camera focusses on them, Angelina has headed off on her own. But Ilia soon joins her, and they start doing some of their choreography.
When we finally see them again, they have got rid of their jackets. Am I going mad? I don't recognise these costumes. Is it a new programme?
In the last minute, we see them chatting to their coaches, having a drink, and having high-5's with their numerous coaches.
Well, here...
And here is what I wrote about their programme:
No, same programme.
I love Angelina's hair.
They were really going for it in the intro to "Larger Than Life"
Twizzles looked great!
They really do mean business here!
Still don't like this speeded up "Backstreet's Back" on steroids.
Ach, we were on the wrong camera for the choreography at the start of the second section of "Larger Than Life".
I think this is the best I have seen them do this programme!!!
@La Rhumba - our kids were on it!!!
They go into 2nd position.
I'm actually surprised. I thought new leaders for sure. But...

I actually missed that because I was writing my post.
Awwww. What a beautiful thing to do!
They really are lovely people!

Anyway, I'm getting way ahead of myself. Before the competition had started,
@La Rhumba had posted:
Good Luck to Angelina & Ilia, Phebe & James and Lilah & Lewis!!! (in the order they skate)

As they were about to start their programme, my good friend in Sicily,
@elektra blue, declared:
my favourite in this group and among my favourite in general...and constant nominees

I'm not actually sure what my Norwegian friend,
@norwegianfairytale, was referring to, but she was happy about it:
Our first BB

Ah! It just dawned on me! BB means Backstreet Boys!
My fellow British member
@FlossieH enjoyed them:
Fun programme from the Cypriots.
As did
@norwegianfairytale:
Shame about the midline step, I enjoyed their program

@Seven Sisters felt the same way as I do about the music:
Somewhat weird that they sped up/remixed the Backstreet Boys, who I think meet the timing requirements even in the originals. At least, some teams use the original without incident
Not-the-band
@cocteautwin echoed what
@norwegianfairytale had said, and was unfortunately prophetic:
I enjoyed that a lot too, Chris. I like their unique costumes. Shame about the mistake on element, it may cost them Q.
Speaking of whom,
@norwegianfairytale was disappointed with the reviews:
Twizzles dropped down to lv. 2?

After the competition had finished, I posted:
Delighted that Phebe BEKKER / James HERNANDEZ (GBR) in 11th and Sofía VAL / Asaf KAZIMOV (ESP) in 15th qualified for the Free.
Gutted that Angelina KUDRYAVTSEVA / Ilia KARANKEVICH (CYP) in 22nd missed out. By just 1.14 points.

In case you are wondering, I quoted these paragraphs rather than embedded the whole of La Rhumba's post because the first paragraph was in reply to a different post of mine that was about something completely un-related.
Angelina and Ilia are currently 1.02 points behind 21st position, Gina ZEHNDER / Beda Leon SIEBER (CHE), and 2.68 points ahead of 23rd position, Chelsea VERHAEGH / Sherim van GEFFEN (NED). Angelina and Ilia are the bottom partnership in a group of 7 partnerships covered by 6.89 points, stretching up to Yuka ORIHARA / Juho PIRINEN (FIN) in 16th position.
Unfortunately, there is a cut-off at the European Championships. Only the Top 20 go through to the Freee Dance. Angelina and Ilia are just 1.14 points behind the last partnership to qualify, Zoe LARSON / Andrii KAPRAN (UKR).
For the second year in a row, Angelina and Ilia have missed out on getting through to the Free by a small margin. Last year, they were one position away from qualifying, and 1.31 points behind the partnership in 20th position, Mariia PINCHUK / Mykyta POGORIELOV (UKR). This year, they were two positions away from qualifying, and 1.14 points behind the partnership in 20th position, Zoe LARSON / Andrii KAPRAN (UKR).
So, although they were further away in terms of position, they are getting closer in terms of the actual points. And the scores in that area of the table were very similar between the two editions. Last year the partnership in 21st position (Angelina and Ilia) scored 59.38 points. This year the partnership in 21st position (Gina and Beda Leon) scored 59.12. The irony is, if Angelina and Ilia had got last year's score this year, they would have qualified this year.
Third time lucky next year?
WELL DONE!!!
