Anna Pogorilaya

Oh boy, it seems like Pogo's psychological problems only got worse :hopelessness: Tarasova also said that it was all in her head, that she could do everything physically, but she can't handle the pressure. Huge props to the Japanese public, they supported her all the way. I hope Tsareva knows what she's doing.

It was the most horrifying thing, I hope Anna is ok. Is she injured again? I really liked her SP and wanted to see it clean at NHK.
Lighting candles for Anna.

I saw the scores when I woke up & couldn't believe it. Then I watched the program...can this poor girl ever catch a break? Why is a high level skater like that falling so hard, so often? At least her coach showed some compassion, but I'd really like to see her work with someone else since these issues aren't going away and her career could be on the line. Even more importantly, I don't want to see her permanently injured. I shudder to think how many concussions she's probably had in training... :hopelessness:

When Anna falls she does not just go down. She crashes and burns, it's so heartbreaking. I pray that she swallows this disappointment once again as she has done in the past. No thought of giving up, please! Anna is a skater with world top class technical skills, and whenever she has a clean skate she is unique and irreplaceable in her style. Good to see that she gets more comfort from Tsareva than before.

GPF should be a closed case, so no more pressure. Let her have a reasonably good free program tomorrow, something to lift her spirit.

She puts a lot into her jumps, that´s why her falls are so .... But I think it is better like that, than doing a little hop and never getting around. No risk no reward. The bigger problem for Anna, however, are the PC´s. As long skaters like her, are not fully rewarded in PC´s because of a stupid "little girl" image that FS has, she will not win - at least not, with little girls skating as good as they do now.

The life as a figure skater is just not fair and I wish she would get what she deserves in PCs.

I don't know Alex D, I really really like Anna but to be honest I'm not convinced she was given unfair PCS today... the whole program really really suffered. It might have been salvageable but then the third fall came, after which she lay on the ice for what felt like an eternity. I think it partly felt like an eternity because obviously I was worried about her, but I have to think it felt like that to the judges too, and it's hard to come back from that. Transitions suffered due to the falls and her PE and IN sufered a lot too... and it's hard to give high SS to someone who keeps falling :(

I general I do feel sometimes she's been given unfairly low PCS, but then at other times she's gotten really really strong PCS so I'm not sure I do view this as a consistent problem.

Her programs this season are better than last season's. But it's hard to tell whether she has been underscored on PCS this season because besides Mordovian Ornament, she has not yet managed to stay on her feet throughout either the SP or the LP.

Yeah, PCS would not have saved her here, sadly. She attacks those jumps & I love her for that, but it's not normal for a top level skater to crash & fall like that over & over again. The pain she must endure on a regular basis! Surely there are ways to break those falls so that they are less dangerous or disruptive to the program. I see juniors falling like that often...top seniors, not so much.

I can not judge NHK, but skaters like her who are a bit more powerful and not the "smiling beauty" usually have to work much harder for the same results, than the beauties. I do not want to sound totally negative now, but I just care for this girl and want her to get good results.

;)

She has no confidence right now, it is so sad to see. It always makes me sad, when skaters loose their "potential" because of the missing believe.

So I was showing my mum this photo (cause she loves cats) & she started translating comments for me. So now I'm like: Don't ever change Anna! You're an awesome person, the world should be happy for having you :)

Btw. Congrats on the rebound in the Free program, hope it will go well at Nationals for you ^^

I made the mistake of listening to TSL's NHK recap (I should have known better, since I disliked them enough in the past to stop giving them any attention). The way they laughed at poor Anna's performance was downright cruel, even by their low standards. I wonder if they would have found it so funny if it was an American skater. :disagree:

No comment. Good thing I stopped watching them before GP series, I spared myself a lot of nerves.

I'm really sorry that this is the reason I'm posting in Anna fan fest for the first time, but...

I made the same mistake. Stopped watching their recaps a while ago because they were often too rude for my taste, but decided to give it another shot when they started cross-promoting with GS. But this is just way beyond anything I remember. I swear, I TRY to give them credit for promoting the sport and their interviews, but I just can't with comments like this. They laughed about Anna's bad SP, made tasteless jokes and Jenny called it her "moment of the week". How can someone like Jenny, who must now how devastating it is to have a bad skate, find so much pleasure and joy in making fun of Anna and mocking her? I'm sorry for the harsh words, but it's disgusting.

And yes Anna's falls are scary, and I'm hoping just as much as anyone that they'll work on that and keep her healthy more than anything. She has obviously worked so hard over the summer, she has improved so much... if she could have only skated similar to MO again. This young lady could challenge for world medals. I hope she'll manage to get over NHK and be back to her MO state again in time for nationals. I like too many russian girls to really have a preferred world team, but it would be lovely to see her again at a big competition this season. And I want to have a better picture to remember from her beautiful face than crying and being devastated :sad21: All the best to you Anna!
