Anna Pogorilaya

I love Anna but she's right. She was hardly her best because of the injury and she was rightly dinged for all the minor mistakes. And even with that, she had the second highest PCS in the competition

It's hilarious people fantasize about country switches when their favorites don't do well. But do you people even consider that money doesn't grow from trees and Tsareva has two children she'd like to feed? Once they leave the Russian team, that's it. No more Russian federation financing. Hello minor country financing. Considering Maxim Nikitin had to give private lessons to buy new skates and is only in the US thanks to a sponsor, Anna will have to find a job or a sponsor that will pay for Tsareva, Adoniev, Morozov, skates, costumes and whatnot.

Thanks for the "wake up call"...those of us who are unfamiliar with the financial workings of the sport need to know where the money comes from

I wonder if Anna could change the layout of the jumps, so to avoid the flip which is often called.
She can't. Because of the rule. And Because all the girls are doing 7 triple layout (not to mention Tano). She needs to do 7 triples layout. And without 3A she can't have a 7 triple layout without 3F. Her 2A is weak, so 3A is out of the question. She would rather do 3Fe than training the dangerous 3A.

I agree that financing is a huge deal for skaters. So as long as you ar eon national team, and get all financing covered, you don't really want to leave the Fed.
Btw. Wait, Anna Tsareva has two kids?

They haven't mentioned WC yet? Sigh..

Rusian Fed never choose World Team right after Nationals. Which is wise for me, after all there is still 3 months left, so many things can happen. It's easier to to name team later, than tell a skater he/she/they won't go after naming them already. (read: like situation with Liam Firus, which was really, really not nice) I think Europeans may have a say to who goes.... (better not to bomb!)

On the other hand, even if one of the three Russians at Euros misses the podium or bombs, I think they earned their spot on the Worlds team. Evgenia - no discussion. Anna, too. I think they want to expose Maria to the grand stage this year, so that the judges get used to her and she gets used to the big competitions so that Olympics won't faze her as much. As much as I love Elena, she doesn't need more exposure this season, even less would be best for her. Might be she comes back stronger next season but I think her body type prevents that. As much as I love her and I think even the Russian fed does, her chances to get on the podium at Worlds are much lower. So I think it would be stupid to have another Worlds team without Anna on it. Russia's field is so deep that you cannot rest yourself on past results, see Tuktamysheva or Elena. You have to constantly bring good results and even a GP win won't help you. It's the toughest field in the World. I bet the World team will be Evgenia, Anna and Maria. Everything else makes no sense.

Ladies team is probably fixed, same with Pairs, but Men and Ice Dance not so much. And if they are going to announce World team, it's going to be all, not just disciplines they have 3 spots, same as Europeans. + we have seen in last years, that there might be some shuffling due to injuries or other reasons (Bobrova doping case, which happened to not be true, but she still missed Worlds).

Yeah, even last season when Anna did not do well at European, they still sent her to WC anyways. Her records this season are enough for WC team. I am not worried about that. The issue is even if she does well at European and WC, next season is still unknown. I hope she will stay healthy and improve even more.

She also posted a few pictures of her taped leg, so it seems she isn't totally healthy. That worries me. She needs to do well at Euros. At least better than Maria.

artonicemagicToday, we announce a new world class #figureskater for #ArtonIce2017! 🎉 Russian #AnnaPogorilaya @annapogorilaya will enrich our ensemble. ❤️ Anna won the bronze medal at the #WorldChampionships 2016 in Boston, as well as the bronze medals at the #Europeans 2015 and 2016. This season the 18 year old #athlete from #Moscow won the #GrandPrix events in Sapporo and Moscow and finished 3rd at the Grand Prix final event in Marseille. However another skater will not be able to come to #Switzerland in February: #AshleyWagner @ashwagner2010. I'm so happy for her! Glad she has opportunity to make some money + the show is known for good quality and well known skaters :) And opportunity to work with different choreographers is also good. Hope she will have a good time there! The date is well fitting into competiiton schedule

No, his show is called Ice Legends. He is part of the Art on Ice cast virtually every year but it's produced by other people.
Very happy to see Anna in the cast!
Oh I see. But it's great chance for her nevertheless. I guess this mean her injury is no longer bad, that's why she accepted this?
