Anna Shcherbakova

Anna in the program "Best of all" (Лучше всех) on the first channel (starting at 1:00:12)

Translation:

Anna: Hello! (hugs Yesenia)

Maxim Galkin: Hello, Anya! Nice to meet you

Anna: (turning to the girl) I'm with a present!

Yesenia: Thank you!

Maxim Galkin: Oh, what is it?

Anna: (speaking to Yesenia) Don't worry! I'm worried too ... Will worry together (laughs).

Maxim Galkin: Please show me, Anya, what it is.

Anna: Let's see ... Here are my two mascots, from Japan

Maxim Galkin: This is valuable!

Anna: Japan is a country where figure skating is very popular. I think Yesenia knows about this.

Yesenia: No ...

Anna: No, you do not know? Well, when you grow up, you will definitely find out, because Japanese fans are very fond of figure skating and constantly send various gifts, invite to the show, so it is always very pleasant for skaters to perform there. Therefore, here are gifts from Japan, and from my last tournament - a mask with the logo of this competition, very important in our time.

Maxim Galkin: Great, so many gifts! Fine. Anya, tell me, please (this is my main question), at what age do skaters start talking?

Anna: (laughs) I still manage to do it with difficulty, especially when there are so many people. (turning to the girl) So don't worry!

Maxim Galkin: Yes? .. Maybe you are a little freezing from the ice?

Anna: (laughs) Skaters are athletes, we are used to working in silence, right? (Yesenia nods).

Maxim Galkin: I understand, you need to warm up a little with a hairdryer before you go out, blow a little hot air. By the way, at what age did you first get on the ice?

Anna: At three and a half years old.

Yesenia: I am also at three and a half.

Anna: Wow! Do you already distinguish all the jumps? (Yesenia nods) Because I have a memory of how little I jump, jump, train some element. The coach drives up and asks: what jump are you doing? And I’m standing there, going over all the names in my head and don’t understand what kind of jump I’m training!

Maxim Galkin: Oh, that is, I jumped something and ...

Anna: I didn't understand then, but Yesenia is great, she already understands this.

Maxim Galkin: Well, great. Right now, on the screen, let's see how Yesenia skates.

(everyone is watching the video)

part 2:

Maxim Galkin: Beauty! Well done, Yesenia! Look, you're much more confident on the ice than on the couch. Anya, what do you say?

Anna: Yes, she skated very nicely!

Maxim Galkin: What elements were there?

Anna: I saw Lutz ...

Maxim Galkin: Lutz, huh? ... This is when it's so dryg-dryg, right?

Anna: (laughs) Yes, that's it.

Maxim Galkin: And what is this called rotation (shows with his hands)?

Anna: Camel spin was beautiful there ...

Yesenia: Sit spin.

Anna: Sit spin too, yes. She did a lot of elements, yes.

Maxim Galkin: Well, great!

Anna: I-spins are very beautiful.

Maxim Galkin: Excellent! I would also like Yesenia to tell who she came with.

Yesenia: Mom, Dad and Nina came with me.

Maxim Galkin: And what are the names of mom and dad?

Yesenia: Dad's name is Igor, and mom's is Liana.

Maxim Galkin: Hello, Igor!

Igor: Hello!

Maxim Galkin: Why, in fact, did you choose figure skating?

Igor: We did not choose figure skating, we just went to rhythmic gymnastics, and she said that she was not interested, and at the age of three and a half we tried figure skating in Sochi. She really liked it, she fell in love with this sport, and now she continues. The most interesting thing is that she is very sorry for those who are engaged in rhythmic gymnastics. She says about them: the girls have never seen ice.

Maxim Galkin: (laughs) It's good ... Yesenia, today in our program there is a wonderful opportunity so that not only we would award you with a medal, but that a real champion would hang a medal on you. I mean Anya Shcherbakova. Shall we go to the stage for the award? (Yesenia nods) Let's go!

(Applause)

Maxim Galkin: Anya, dear, please ...

Anna: Yes, let's like in a competition ... (puts a medal on Yesenia)

Maxim Galkin: Yes ...

Anna: Here's a medal for you ... Come on, take the flowers.

Maxim Galkin: Also for Yesenia a backpack with sweets ...

Yesenia: I don't eat it.

Maxim Galkin: Aren't you eating this? Then Anya will eat.

Anna: I'll eat! (laughs)

Maxim Galkin: Take your gifts, as well as flowers to our illustrious champion and our participant. Well, we thank the world champion Anna Shcherbakova and, of course, Yesenia Vashurina, who is the best.

Anna: Best of all! (takes the girl by the hand and leads away) Well done! Let's go to. Just like a real reward - flowers, a medal!

For several days now, excerpts from an interview that Anna gave to a German magazine Pirouette have been appearing on various sites. Unfortunately, I never found a link to the original, only to this magazine itself:

pirouette-online.de

Apparently, the most complete translation of this interview into Russian was published on the VKontakte social network:

"I am satisfied with the performances at two stages. I move forward step by step. The main thing is that I was better in comparison with the previous competitions. At the first stage, the goal was to show the quad and I did everything cleanly. At the second stage, we made a two changes to the SP. In FS, my goal was to try quadruple lutz. But I made a big mistake and I think I need to be more confident in this jump. The jump should be stable, but I'm glad that after everything else was done cleanly and I did the second quad.

I had only 5 days to prepare a new SP in Moscow and we did everything we could to show it at the competitions, but of course there was not enough time to combine every movement with music. When I performed the program at the competition, I was very nervous, not because of the jumps, but because of every movement and detail. Usually I think about how to do pure jumps, but here I thought how not to forget the movements.

About changing the program:

This was risky before the competition, as the program was not fully developed. But if we look in perspective, then the new program will have more advantages and we will work very hard on it to make it better for the main competition. I think it was the right decision.

The program is completely different. I can honestly say that I have never had such a program, because here from the very beginning to the end there is a "nerve" that needs to be kept. There are no calm parts, as is usually the case, here from beginning to end you need to keep the pace and control not only the speed, but also the expressiveness. I try to do it, but I noticed that this time at the beginning I did not have enough strength and it was hard for me. But this is a normal workflow. When I complete the program, I will feel confident in the choreography. We see potential.

About the Grand Prix finals (interview was recorded before the competition was canceled):

We will work on the SP, on the entire program. For the FS, it's more about the technical part, everything should be done cleanly. At the main starts, the programs must be clean, every jump must be successful, I cannot afford to make mistakes, especially such as on the first jump in the FS, because of which I lost points."

part 2:

"
Has a similar mistake ever happened in training?

I can remember very few times when this happened in training, I can count all such episodes on my fingers. If this happened in training, we would turn off the music and I would start over. When I make a mistake, I get up and continue skate, as if nothing had happened. It should not be noticeable that something has happened. But for what happened this time, I was not prepared, so I had to come to my senses, it shocked me. It's good that I completed all the elements, but I criticized myself, because then until the very end of the performance I thought about this mistake.

And what happened?

I do not know exactly. I watched reruns, but I can't say 100% what the reason is. Perhaps it was a coincidence, or a failure due to ice, but it is possible that the problem was in my head, it was a lack of confidence in the jump, which mixed with adrenaline and led to mistake.

About summer injury:

Every year I get in shape as the season progresses, and I continue to do the same this year until now. The main thing for me is that I do not stand still, but every training, every day, every competition I achieve something and see the results of my work.

Who is the person who influences you?

If we talk about figure skating, of course, first of all it is the Eteri Georgievna. In sports, it is always important to listen to the authority of the coach. My parents support me in the training process, but they cannot give a professional assessment of what I do.

Who inspires you?

There are other athletes, people outside of sports who can inspire me in a given situation, but I cannot name anyone specific. Yuzuru is one of them, there are skaters who are just great, like Nathan Chen. I am not comparing them to each other. They are so unique that no one loses compared to others.

I also like Boyan and Yuma, very interesting skaters. In dancing, I especially like Gaby and Guillaume. At the Grand Prix stage in Italy, I took a picture with them for the first time and I am very happy about that. As for women, I always liked Mao Asada, when I was little, I liked how she skated, jumped and put it all together.

In addition, I have always loved watching the performances of Yulia Lipnitskaya and I think that her program Schindler's List is one of the best in the world of figure skating. I can list many more skaters that I have followed or follow, all of which have inspired me in some way.
