Anna Shcherbakova

More things than I would like are bringing me back to 2018, but this tiny jump on to the top of the podium like Alina is certainly not something I mind being reminded of!

It really felt a lot like 2018. I still remember Alina sitting there with her little doll, when Evgenia´s scores came up.
I still can´t believe that Anna did it. After Sasha´s skate, I didn´t think that Anna could beat that, but she proved me wrong, once again

I can't even say I'm happy for Anna (I want to be and Anna deserves this). This is all mess.

I was imagining that if Anna wins what I wil tell all those who always doubted about her. But no.

Please, people, be good.
I am happy for Anna (and sad for Kamila). But the whole situation isn´t Anna´s fault. She had two amazing skates at the Olympics and should be rightfully proud of herself.

Congrats Anna!! More than the quads or even the artistic expression, her mental fortitude impresses me the most. And it's that quality, her strongest attribute, that was needed to win in such a bizarre and trying Olympics.

At least to me, the unfortunate situation with Kamila doesn't diminish the validity of Anna's victory. How to put it - I can't agree with the narrative that Kamila's gold was 'taken' from her, as results are never predetermined and Anna has beat her even in normal circumstances. Deep sympathies to all three Russian girls, regardless, they've been through hell the past week.

These games as a whole were an unmitigated disaster...a complete travesty...but thank god for Anna. She is such a bright spot in this sport. Always showing up when it matters, and so diplomatic even when she has to deal with the scummy media. She will be such a great champion.

I went back and looked at the protocols. Anna is the only skater among the top 19(!) to go completely clean across both programs. No edge calls, no UR, no negative GoE.

Edited to add: She's actually the only one in the whole competition to achieve this :drama:
