Anna Shcherbakova

Anna, though, is a different story. She seems so shy and reserved in real life, but when she’s performing, emotional expression seems so easy and natural to her, like she was born to be on ice rather than to live among humans. She embodies the music, and it’s as though she’s a different person on ice and off-ice. That’s one thing I really like about her. She might be shy in social situations, but on the ice she is intense, powerful, and captivating. It’s like an alter-ego, even.
That's so incredibly beautifully put!

She does give off the impression that she might not really understand people, or know how to interact with them so perhaps she shuts herself in. And performing is then a way for her to actually be able to express herself, and is so powerful because it allows her to release these pent up expressions...? The aura she has is very different from someone with a very extroverted personality who also is a natural performer... For instance, I am not sure how she would be able to deal with huge amounts of attention when someone like Zagitova seems to have absolutely no struggle with it. I'm a little worried about her, actually... I hope she will be able to deal with it when the time comes that she'll have far more fans and attention.

I don't think so, watched some periscopes and photos from camps, home parties, vacations with her and the other girls and she's been quite vocal, maybe less than the other girls, but not a loner at all.
It seems, she just lets the other girls shine, when strangers or cameras appear. :)

She always seems to run away when cameras arrive. I guess I'm making it more dramatic than it is, although the introverted type still doesn't usually have such performing abilities. Not a loner, but still seems to, hmm... need to be quite comfortable with people to really interact with them, I could put it.

Watching that program again, it's incredible how far she's gotten since then in just 3 and a half years. She had no jumps to speak of and very mediocre skating skills. But amazing charisma and performing ability. And now...
It's probably Eteri's magic potions and spells. :D

Hi I'm new to the thread. Is Anna going to be in JGP this year ?

She have win the Russian Cup final, so most think that she can't be leaved out of the new JGP, but we just need to wait another week, for know that.

Hopefully, but it's pretty much unknown. However, with a good performance she can be there. Kostornaya wasn't supposed to be in JGP last season anyway until she had a very good performance at a Moscow local and they rushed to get her in the last 2 JGP events.

Well, if she comes out with quads they pretty much will be forced to send her to JGP events.

Is it both senior and junior Grand Prix assignments that come out next week? What are the test skates for then (I know they do them in July or August in Russia)

Actually, could it be that we're going to be able to see Anna's new program(s) during Dreams on Ice? Eteri's juniors at least have always done their competitive programs during exhibitions and haven't had actual ex's.

Usually they give a list of participants, yes, but there tends to be around 8 subs for each competition and they can swap the skaters around quite a bit.

Something that's rather promising for Anna is how they gave her a special spot in the junior nationals even though she hadn't qualified for it. But the sad thing is that she didn't really impress there...

Interesting points, yes. I hope we get to hear about Anna’s new programs sometime soon. And although she had trouble in the FS at Nationals, it’s really good they managed to see enough promise/potential in her to give her a special spot. And this year she’ll come back even stronger [emoji1377] she’s definitely got a lot of potential and if she gets JGP spots we could see her doing really well there, and at Nationals and junior worlds. Praying [emoji1374]

Maybe that's why they do not say what her programs are about.

I was watching some past performances and actually, she had quite the Biellmann position even last season. I think she's managed to improve it quite a bit. It'll be interesting to see where she's at next season when it comes to flexibility! The couple of pictures are very promising. I wonder if she could actually perform a proper I-spin one of these days...? The Y-spin position she has been doing isn't really ideal.
They say that brown eyes are the least interesting but she makes quite a counter-argument.
