Anthony Paradis posted a story on Instagram regarding an injury.

Hi everyone,

I wanted to share a quick update. I’ve been dealing with an injury sustained during training and have been diagnosed with bilateral spondylolysis, meaning I have stress fractures on both sides one of my lower vertebrae.

I’ve been off the ice for the past month focusing on recovery, and our goal is to return to full training around mid-July.

I’m grateful to be supported by an incredible team helping me through this process, and I’m fully committed to coming back stronger.

I’ve also posted a YouTube video where I explain more about my injury and recovery.

Thank you for your continued support. See you back on the ice soon. xx

I like Anthony, he comes across as a nice and honest person, and I like his skating as well because he skates with feeling. There is also always something original in his performances to look forward to. Hope he recovers fully and quickly 💪

On a very side and shallow note, but watching the video, I couldn't help thinking how incredibly unpractical must be to have such extra-long nails. It must make small challenges out of everyday life things at every corner, like just lacing up your skates for starters 🙂

I was most struck by his description that every skater has pain, so he did not seek treatment right away.

He needs to heal and return with those unique programs.👏

I love the nails, I think it is a recovery "look". His nails always look great, but they are shorter when he is skating.

I’m always 😬 when athletes, especially juniors, say this. I used to have an attitude like that back when I was young and still training (tho a different sport) and it wasn’t until my early thirties when a doctor looked at me like an alien and told me “The ‘normal’ amount of pain is zero,” and it was life-changing.

I love figure skating, but sometimes when I hear behind-the-scenes info, especially around the intersection of training and healthcare, it makes me want to scream.

His programs were some of my favourites in recent seasons — I hope he takes enough time off to properly heal and doesn’t rush back.
