Any coaching change for mao after worlds?

I don't think those two are opposite. there are a lot of talented coach in Japan. If she and her team couldn't be satisfied with them,she should go oversees to find good one for her.
But if they can find,of course, japanese coach is better.

however, actually i haven't read the article about "Mao doesn't wnat to go abroad to train". that's why she doesn't go to Russia is she felt something danger there before. I don't know what that means though.

I think Mao does not want to train abroad, period. She got very homesick when she was in the US, and she likes the facilities she has in Japan. It seems that the criteria for the new coach is that they would be willing to come to her rink.

That is sad. I think the most important thing would be to let Mao find happiness in skating again, like Yu-Na did a few years ago.

Has anyone considered that the success of Kim YuNa is due to her coaching team,but also the environment in which she trains. She is not Brian Orser and team's only top ranked student. He coaches several others as well, and the day to day on ice stimlation of skating with other very competitive skaters is there for her. She has a professional team who will give their best to all their skaters. Also,training in isolation is never a solution whether it be Mao or anyone else. That said,I believe Mao needs to assess her coaching situation,and however good "her" rink may be,train wherever and with whom she will do best. At the same time,nobody should expect a coach to drop every other student and relocate for just one student,however talented.

Oh, yes. A lot of people give credit to Yu-Na's coaching and training situation. And while her personal effort, talent and strong will (all which boiled down to those excellent performances at the Olympics) should never be underestimated, it is acknowledged that the support of her training team was critical to her success.

I've been thinking about Mao's training situation, and I'm beginning to realize that training at Chukyo University with a Japanese rink-side jump coach is the best she could ever wish for.

Beside the best ice skating rink in the world, Chukyo University's School of Health and Sport Sciences is second only to Tsukuba University in terms of academic ranking. Their academic faculty includes Koji Murofushi's (hammer throw Olympic gold medalist 2004) father as well as Koji Murofushi himself. I believe the Dean or someone like that declared that every possible support would be provided by the school for Mao. She'll get all sorts of specialists on the faculty giving her all sorts of analysis/advice on what she can do to improve every aspect of her skating. I think Mao already declared that she would take a class that Murofushi is going to teach next semester.

What's more, Mao is less likely to suffer from isolation there. She will have the opportunity to make friends with people of her own age, and they're the type of students that Mao will get along with. A good portion of the students at School of Health and Sport Sciences have entered the department on sports scholarship---there are other Olympic-level athletes inc. women's wrestling team on campus; others have taken the entrance exam, and it being ranked 2nd in the field of sports science in Japan, these students are intellectually capable as a whole, with the general aim to have a career in sports-related fields such as physical education, training, and so forth. Mao is a sociable person, not very complicated or unusual except for her ability to excel as a figure skater, so she'll be well-accepted. Besides, since the campus is in the middle of the countryside, she will be protected from inquisitive strangers and be able to lead a relatively normal lifestyle.:thumbsup:

In fact, I wonder if Mao might not just get hired by Chukyo University after she retires from figure skating. I bet Chukyo University would love that.

The most coveted coach in figure skating history has to suffer a disgrace near end of her career.

This is the most confusing thread I've ever seen. TAT is staying as director, TAT is leaving, Mao is sad, Mao is happy, TAT helped Mao, TAT failed Mao. New coach must come to Mao, Mao may travel to new coach after all.
