Any Sasha updates?

She just completed her Short program. Solid 3Lz-2T, fall on the 3F and OK on the double axel. And of course good on footwork, spirals and spins.

Icenetwork is showing the whole thing!

Sasha was very very good! FAST! Perfect 3L/2T, fell on flip, gorgeous high 2A, beautiful Biellmann spin, and the very best spiral sequence. Looks even better than before.

what do you mean you 'guess'?
I'm watching Sasha practicing right now and yes, her lutz from 3Lz-3T looked more like flutz, but otherwise she looks alright.

Because she has had a flutz for her entire career and that is not something you can fix within a couple of months of training - so I asked a question about it.

The fall on the flip concerns me. That jump during the short seems to be the downfall for so many skaters. Hope she can land it when it counts. Go Sasha! 42

what i can't figure out is why as 25 year Woman needed help to get to spokane--why she just didn't get on the airplane herself and have nicks pick her up at the airport if she was afraid of media.
i doubt if they would have paid attention to her leaving --but arrival i understand.
what was she so afraid off.
nerves maybe-something else probably
she is a 25 year woman-not a kid. she should have been able to handle it herself at least to get on the plane.
sounds like nerves to me already.
but than she does what she wants to get the most ah-poor me, help me-look at me more than any skater.

Don't analyze it-just enjoy the fact that she just did her warm up and kicked BOOTIE on those jumps! A couple of falls naturally-that's to be expected but overall she was rockin' it!!!!!

She practiced ALL the triple jumps-lutz/flip/salchow/toe/loop. Her double axel looked strong, beautiful spins, footwork sequence. Beautiful PRESENCE on the ice like I haven't seen out there since-well she and Kwan left the building.

I do think Sasha looks a bit too thin-again. I hope she's feeling strong, is in top shape and has endurance to spare.

Well, I'm taking people's word for it :p being at the airport I am unable to watch the practices for myself, but seems like she fits right in.

She seems to be skating a lot better than many of us believed she would be after all her injuries and "time off." It must have been so nice for those of you who saw it to see her landing flips and lutzes again. How does her chreo look? Is her spiral sequecne the same as 2006?

Nicks gave the same answer to two questions posed after Cohen's practice.

What does Sasha have to do to win gold in Vancouver?

"Stay on her feet."

What does Sasha had to do to make the Olympic Team?

"Stay on her feet."

And about skating two clean programs? That's "a substantial challenge," Nicks saidl. But he feels that Cohen is capable of doing it.

Good ol' Mr. Nicks!

Something in her 2006 seemed better , but overall her edge, speed and flow looked stronger. Her flexibility maight be lesser, of course she is older now.
I would say she is just as old good Sasha!

Thank you kandidy! I got to watch the livestream but I was so hoping someone would post it on yt for the fans who couldn't watch it on IN or KHQ.

U r welcome :p It's already 7 am in the morning here and I didn't have any sleep whole night, was too nervous and now too much adrenaline to go to sleep.

Based on the YouTube video - her lutz was terribly flutzed - hardly perfect. Her flip has that wonky takeoff - where after she does the 3-turn, her blade zig-zags on the ice. The fall looked like it hurt. I felt her in between moves were anemic and the footwork was not all that hard.

HOWEVER, I give her credit for showing up. Lets see how she goes.

May the best two ladies make the team - regardless of age.

I think Sasha exuded confidence in that video and she looked right on form to compete with the best. As for a fall on the flip being any negative indication, every single one of these ladies (and every skater for that matter) has missed a jump from time to time. I know when I competed I would fall on certain jumps that I were very consistent for me the odd time in practice but in competition I was extremely consistent. It's about putting it out there when it counts. Let's hope things go swimmingly for Sasha tomorrow night.
