Any Sasha updates?

If the jumps are there she wins easily.

That is far from a given - don't count out the other girls. If Alissa's jumps are there so may very well win easily too. If Rachael is as consistent as she usually is she could win as well.

That was a very good performance from Sasha. The choreography was very sharp and that was a great split jump. She also had nice speed. She is going to get a deduction on her flutz though, which will hurt her. Alissa will beat her hands down on the spins too. The two will probably receive close to the same marks on their spiral sequences as well. Looks like it is going to be a very good competition.

It's the night before Nats and Sasha hasn't withdrawn,
Too bad for all those who thought she'd be gone.
I guess only Sasha knows where her head's at,
Now all we can do is hope she don't SPLAT!

GOOOOOOO Sasha!

Because she has had a flutz for her entire career and that is not something you can fix within a couple of months of training - so I asked a question about it.

Who doesn't know that. but miki worked hard to correct her 3F and she did it. I wouldn't have assumed Sasha still has flutz until I saw the most recent practice. Fixing flutz or lip is difficult but it is not impossible. I just didn't like the way you brought it up when all the fans are just happy to see her come back healthy again.

I did say "if" and I know a practice is not the same as a competition.
The truth is I will be very happy to see one of my favorite all-time skaters back competing again.

I like Alissa - but she and almost every other Lady is not the performer Sasha is.

We will see and I just hope she does her best. If that is not enough I will still be happy to have seen her compete again.

It is about being a fan and and I am rooting for our other gilrs to skate their best too.

Like Mr Nicks says about Sasha, "her skating is so beautiful."

ITA with Mr Nicks.

Yes, I know you did say if but my point was that even if she lands all her jumps, the other girls could too and Sasha could find herself in a position other than first. Good luck to everyone tomorrow :)

Well this isn't a fan board. Lot's of opinions are discussed here and I asked a simple question as I had not seen the video yet.

She looks as brilliant and beautiful as ever, maybe even with better line and speed than before. Knock on wood, but it's looking good for tomorrow. Brava, Sasha!

It's crazy that her first performances of her programs decide whether she goes to the Olympics. Thank God she's thoroughly familiar with the hothouse of Nats, at least.

Enjoying the posts and the youtube clip! Sasha looks great, love her in red! The fall on the flip looked painful and just one of those awkward falls. She definitely has strange tech into those two toe jumps and probably should be hit with an edge call. Like the spiral sequence, but thought the COE was too jerky. Loved the forward charlotte!

Hoping more practice clips pop up...dying to see Alissa, Rachael, Mirai, Caroline and Ashley...OK all of them!

There was another time when the cameras followed her everywhere and expectations were almost too high to meet - the year she was sent to Junior Worlds after coming in 2nd at nationals and needed to "medal" in order to defy the age-restriction for senior worlds. That was super tough for her to hold up to. Hope if she's having any flashbacks, that it is an older, wiser go-for-broke Sasha that shows up tomorrow and Saturday so that there will be a "let the best skate win" outcome.

I was wondering if that split jump was even allowed in the SP-I remember at the 2002 Olympics Scott Hamilton said something like 'is it an added element or no? We'll see' as if the judges might dock her for throwing in something possibly illegal in that phase of the competition.

I agree about Rachael and Alissa. Rachael has the jumps, and consistency and Alissa looks elegant to me-almost right up there with Sasha.

I think the split jump should be okay. I know Joannie did one in her 2006 short program under the COP. It is marvelous so I hope it stays in :)
