Are former single skaters judged seriously as pairs?

Kristi Yamaguchi and Rudy Galindo both competed in singles at the same time they were skating as a pair. When Kristi left the partnership, Rudy was devastated, but both went on to have successful careers in singles. Kristi has since done some pairs skating with various partners during her career with Stars on Ice.

OK, memory eluding me, did Kristy ever COMPETE with her Hubby, or did they just train and exhibitions? I am kinda having to base this on the pictures I have and I couldn't see any that looked like a competition (maybe Pro) just want to ask. I am sure someone knows.
:agree:

Sean, Kristi Yamaguchi's hubby is a hockey player, not a pairs skater

perhaps you're thinking Yuka Sato and her hubby Jason Dunjen? They never competed in 'Olympic Elligible' competition, but they competed in the now defunct World Pro championships several times
