Articles about skaters going to US Nationals

Alissa Czisny article, emphasizing her coaching team: Julie Berlin, Yuka Sato, Linda Leaver, Brian Boitano, Natalie Delier and Amber Czisny.

And here's a Tonya Harding interview from the same edition

Harding managed a smile. "When was the last time you smiled a lot?" I asked.

"When I was on the ice," she said.

I had never seen Gilles skate. Her jumps looked really good from what I could see of them.

I will never understand how she managed to take the junior title from Angela last season when she doesn't have that drama, charisma, spark, and artistic ability. Musademba and Chrissy Hughes definitely have potential, but I find alexe boring.

I think Alexe is very talented. She's a very smooth skater with great, great basics. She has a really elegant style and is one of the few US skaters with a true lutz.

I like Angela too, but Alexe's win last year was well deserved. She's more polished than Angela, and while Angela is a very energetic and interesting skater, her basics do need work. She also has all the triples, which Angela didn't at the time.

"Just before her 18th birthday, citing burnout, Merrick's Joelle Forte walked away from the sport that had been her life since she was 4 years old.
"I was like, 'This is it, I'm not doing this anymore,'" she said. "I never thought I'd be back ever."
But Forte missed the sport, and a year later, she was back on the ice. Now, on the heels of first-place finishes at both the North Atlantic Regionals and the Eastern Sectionals this fall, she will look to make her presence felt at the nationals and hopes to eventually compete internationally.

I liked the section on Joelle Forte;thanks for the link! I don't recall ever seeing her skate but I will have to check out her regionals video. A spectacular and inspiring comeback.
