I agree that Wagner benefitted from easier GP assignments. Plus, she had a shot at winning NHK and couldn't capitalize...but in the end it's not that big a deal because it's more important to peak later in the season rather than earlier.
Sort of like in the NBA/NHL/NBA when one conference is significantly weaker than another. Teams that get to the Finals or Superbowl through the "weak" conference might not even make it out of the wildcard round in the "strong" conference. A bit of an exaggeration there but you get the point. It's part of sport, you deal with the situation at hand.
Wagner (and, IMO, Suzuki and Leonova) was (were) able to get to the GPF through the "weaker conferences" while some of the other skaters had at least one tough event. Now, in the Final, the "stronger" skaters have the advantage. I want folks to understand that for the GPF, my PREDICTIONS are vastly different from my HOPES.
