But Carolina is neither supplier nor (as far as we know) another doper. Reducing his sentence to the extent that it's shorter than hers is sending the wrong message.
I'm the same way on 3 espressos in a row.
Her samples should be recheck in a top level lab to make sure she was clean at sotchi. I'm not against a long ban (missing next olympics) because she lied in a doping case. Doping is a serious offend. I bet people would be mad if her boyfriend was a figure skater...

From what i have read, doping isn't effective for figure skaters, that's why they don't (have a reason to) do it.
There's a reason, we never heard of East German figure skaters doping...
The only doping case i'm familiar with is that of Yuri Larionov who took some headache medicine and tested positive for steroid.
You can dope in any sport I would say,
in theory everyone who takes an asthmatic helper is a doper, just that its legalized now when cleared by a doc. You can dope to build up muscle strength gain a better stamina recovery or fitness level.
The sad thing about doping in sport however is, that so many do it and so few are caught and in my personal opinion always those with minor offences while the big ones with millions of dollar income every year do it for centuries and never get anywhere near a discovery as big people back them up and need their "merchandise clowns" to be clean.
But all of this doesn't matter here, so far Carolina has not been confirmed as a doper, nor that she was helping someone else to dope (from what I heard so far). However, the IOC is very strict in their policy of "nobody is doping here" so that the outcome is unknown right now and I feel sorry that a skater who is actually very shy and not really into publicity has now to deal with all that crap which the media will throw at her.

Kyoko Ina was also in trouble with the drug enforcement people. They came to her house after she had already gone to bed, and when she couldn't produce a urine sample, she was banned for two years. She had already decided to retire, so it didn't matter.
I find this whole thing getting ridiculous, frankly. I'm 100% against any sort of doping, but if school bus drivers and people who have others lives in their hands do not have drug testers coming to their homes (they get told to go to the drug testing site for their random and pre-employment drug tests), I don't know why athletes should, just for the sake of protecting the "integrity" of some results.

I think this was probably one of the worst if not the worst examples of anti-doping efforts crossing the line.
Kostner was put in a very bad position by her ex-boyfriend, but comparatively speaking her infraction is a minor one and has nothing to do with her own competitive career. Someone at CONI really needs to get some perspective on this.

stripping her medals = ridiculous.. she should not be facing a harder punishment more than her douche bf..
as for doping.. well of course you don't need to be doped to cheat in figure skating.. there are judges (and fed) that can help you in that regard.. lol..

This story is way more complicated than what it seems and involves many top Italian athletes, in many disciplines. The real reason behind this ban request is only because CONI has done trashy things for years and now they want to save their ***** (sorry for my words, but it can't be said differently). Now they want to show that are able to give exemplary punishments even to famous and elite athletes but, and here is the disgusting thing, only to athletes who have already retired (Kostner but also three T&F athletes Collio, Checcucci and Donati). Then to athletes who aren't helpful anymore. Why not Alex Schwazer? Because he's still young enough to take part in Rio and they are doing everything possible to reduce his ban and allow him to participate (we're talking about a talented guy, drugs or not drugs). Do I have to add that there's a list with more than 60 athletes' names (in activity) who have skipped more than 3 drug controls and the CONI isn't saying anything about it? Well... I've said it. (And it took 2 years to ask for a ban when it was immediately clear that Kostner has lied... a coincidence?)
