Berezhnaya engaged to Steven Cousins?

It's like a revolving door with these people--I think Shae-Lynn and Steven Cousins were also a long-term couple before she hooked up with Morozov!

Also, very strange that Anton and Elena don't train together at all. I can't image how that can work.

.

Very long term, I think they were engaged, and had been a couple for years, certainly since about 95 when Worlds was in Birmingham. To be honest, I don't think Steven has settled down since really. It's a shame. But ofcourse this is just my impression.

I think the article was referring to them being on the TV Celeb show in Russia, where they have different partners, and are obviously training seperately for the duration.

While reading Mike Weiss's blog, I noticed that there was a picture with Caryn Kadavy and her boyfriend. When did she get divorced?

BTW, it's not surprising that skaters would date/marry each other. Those are the people they encounter, generally. Also, it's not totally surprising that they would break up/divorce.

Most of them are pretty young when they meet and fall in love. They aren't neccessarily mature enough for marriage. If one or the other does well, that means a lot of travel and possibly not much time together.

If you think about Shae & Nikolai, they spent a lot of time together when he was her and Victor's coach. He was kind of a svengali in their career. Now, the coach together , but they probably each travel to different competitions with their skaters. She's invited to do shows and travelling with CSOI. He's traveling to choreograph for different skaters. Throw in old world Russian male and Canadian independent female and you've got a relationship that was probably exciting at 1st and then got frustrating.

As much as marriage is important and should be respected, these people are human and make mistakes. It's not always the right thing to stay married and it's not for us to interpret other people's private lives.

I am quite astonished to come back to see this. U_U

So are all of these allegations true? Grushina & Morozov? Berezhnaya & Cousins. I've been sitting in the nosebleed seats too long I guess. I think I'm going to need to sit down, my head is spinning at the moment.

OMGOMGOMGOMGOMGOMGOMGOMGOMGOMGOMGOMGOMGOMG!!

There, much better.

Peace.

Yeh Nikolai is with Grushina now and they are expecting a child so definately Shae/Nikolai and Grushina/Goncharov are split. I know nothing about Beckham, sorry

I don't think it is true. Elena and Ruslan are going to participate in Show in Kiev on 18 of December. I don't think that if Elena is pregnant she will skate. I hope it is just rumors that they split, they heve being married for more than 10 years

If you take out the part these are all skaters they are just like many couples, some make it and some don't. Their personal lives are just that personal. Who are we to judge how long they are married who they live with or date. Outside of skating they are just regular normal everyday people. Life is to short you have to make yourself happy and not worry what others think.
Yes, but at one time couples married for life. Not anymore. Some do, of course, but the statistics show they are less than half. I do not see Holy Matrimony that holy anymore. Getting a divorce used to be for the wealthy as was getting an annulment.

The Newyorker cartoon of seveal years ago showing a mother and daughter discussing the wedding plans and the daughter says to mom: I think Steven will make a nice first husband.

Joe

Maybe she's had the baby then all ready tomtsya or else she's not far along, I know most skaters skate until they are 4 months it seems, I don't know sorry. I know she is definately with Nikolai.

I don't know. Maybe it isn't born yet maybe it is... I really am unsure about that sorry. But I've heard from quite a few different people she was expecting.

I'm beginning to think that the ISU should run a soap opera based on the lives of the skaters . Instead of making money by televising skating, they can show the off-ice drama.

There was a pic in a recent BOI with Caryn and her boyfriend. They ran the caption as Caryn and her husband Bret Johnson (that was her husband's name, right?) They had to print a correction in the next issue that said it should have read her new boyfriend's name. I was surprised too since I hadn't heard that she had split with her husband. Sad that so few seem to make it these days. I'm sure that the added pressure in skating (pros touring, ams competing abroad) must not help matters.

It didn't use to be holy. It was, however, a financial necessity which it not longer is.

I do, though, feel sad about Grushina and Goncharov splitting up (assuming it's true). They seemed like a true and comitted couple.

I´m feeling very surprised about the Elena and Steven news, especially as I did not even know that he and his wife have split up. Probably I´m totally wrong, but somehow I simply cannot imagine that this will be a lasting relationship between Elena and Steven.

I'm having a very hard time taking this thread seriously and actually wanting to. Can't say I saw any of this coming to tell the truth. Well, it keeps things interesting. I'm not going to believe the Grushina/Morozov allegations until either party has spoken. It's a shame about she and Ruslan, I seriously thought they'd last after 10+ years together. But with Morozov in the equasion and the supposed Chaschina fling concerning Ruslan I shouldn't be too surprised.

I'm curious how Shae is taking this, by reading the thread running on FSU I gathered that Nikolai is an alchoholic and that Shae had to kick him out a few times because of that. Heh, it keeps life interesting.

Exactly! That's what the Ice Channel was going to do....too bad they ran out of funding.

There's an immense amount of bed-hopping that goes on in this sport. Lots of goodlooking people, with egos that need stroking, tons of opportunity....and endless rounds of drinks being poured. A good recipe for fun....or heartbreak...depends which end of the equation you're on.
