I liked Sasha's Nationals LP dress better too, but not her SP dress. That one, I liked the newer dress better.

Add to the worst list from COI:
Nicole Bobek's from her Moulin Rouge number. It looked like something that even an ice dancer wouldn't wear.

Sasha's sheer in the middle for Hernando's Hideaway. She is such a pretty girl, but a lot of her costumes seem to be saying "Let's see how flat chested we can make Sasha look today".

Artur and Oksana, I think that Kathy Bates wore Artur's to the Academy Awards a few years ago.

Tim needs a new shirt.

Punsalen and Swallow.

Loved Viktor with the mambo doll in past years but hated the "Who Let the Dogs Out" get up.

Also from COI;
Sarah's white costume was beautiful but white is not a good color for her.

Plushenko gets points for the haircut.

Surya's was not as bad as in past years.

What did you guys (and gals) think about everyone in the stars and stripes for the finale? I thought the patriotism was a nice touch but some of the non Americans looked a little odd to me.

I agree that Nicole's moulin Rouge dress was not attractive. I agree with you on the sheer in the middle on Sasha's Hernando's Hideaway dress. Alot of people have commented on that. Most have said they don't like it. I don't dislike Tim's outfit, it's not the best I've seen. but, it's a little more normal compared to what alot of the men wear.

I also thought the non Americans (especially Plushy) looked a little uncomfortable in the red white and blue outfits.

I liked the white costume on Sarah.

You're right about the World's exhibition costume Sasha wore- not good. I loved the Olympics exhibition she wore, though. Does anyone remember the LP costume she wore at Skate America 2001? I loved that!

I haven't watched all of COI that I taped off tv yet. So, I can't really give an opinion on the red, white, and blue outfits the skaters were wearing. I haven't seen Sarah's white dress either. everyone, please give me your comments and opinions of the COI outfits so, I can then study those outfits closely and make my opinion on them.

Seeing non-Americans in red, white & Blue was odd, but many (not all) do train here and probably felt some affinity to America. I actually felt a bit odder about Elvis wearing the American colors because he doesn't train in US and Canada's colors are red and gold. Generally, I thought the patriotic costumes were nice and fulfilled the theme of the closing. The only patriotic costume I didn't like was Sarah's - the neckline was too high(? - just something about the neckline didn't seem to suit her with the pattern of the material.)

Liked Tim's shirt. THought Viktor's puppy was cute, but think he needs to stop using props and go back to pure skating.

Otherwise, I agree with everyone with regards to costumes.

I agree w/ Viktor, He uses too many props. From what I know Elvis trains in Pennsylvania or at least was during the competitive season.

I was watching my tape of COI and I have outfits to add to list:

Worst
Kazakova/Dmitrev-Matrix
Bourne/Kraatz-Sadness (loved their routine really freakin awesome, but the outfits were not good)

I like both couples. but, not great choices on the outfits for these routines.

I don't remember seeing sasha during the 2001 season. She didn't skate the whole season from what I remember. Sometimes she has great dresses (2002 nats lp) other times she doesn't has on too flashy of a dress (2002 olys + 2002 worlds)

My only problem with Sasha is that her skates are always dirty. Quick! Someone hand that girl some white polish!

I was watching my tape of COI, and it's definitely a mix of good and bad costumes. Here is a list of the outfits I liked amd disliked that I have seen so far on my tape of COI.

Ok, I definitely agree with everyone who said the red, white, and blue outfits that the skaters wore at the end of COI did look awkward on the european skaters. Overall though the COI show, had not many bad outfits.

Also, as I was looking at pictures on the web of some past competitions and I thought I would post this picture of Fumie Suguri. this is one of the best outfits (SP 2002)

yeah, I thought so. It's appropriate for her age and for skating. Some dresses are just sometimes not appropriate for the age of the person wearing it or isn't appropriate for skating or the music the skater is skating to.

spyralz, I just rewatched the closing of COI. The annoucer said that each skater in turn would skate in "tribute" to America. In that case, it would be appropriate for them to wear America's colors as part of their tribute skate, even if they were from somewhere other than the U.S. 42
