Boots for weak ankles?

In addition to what others have mentioned - as a skater who also has weak ankles, I'd be worried Edeas wouldn't work for you at all.
They're designed with a more open collar and flexible tongue to make break-in easier and more comfortable. The flexible tongue doesn't provide as much resistance against the shins when you bend your knees, so although they are supportive from the sides, the looseness above the ankle and the lack of resistance to bending in the front makes them feel less supportive overall. I took a couple laps around the rink in a friend's Ice Flys once, and I really disliked that feeling.
Thank you you guys have been very helpful with letting me know why certain skates won’t work. I do usually have issues with my skates being too tight on my Achilles sometimes and end up re tying them a lot to get them looser back there but if it’s too loose it opens up more towards the front and I don’t like that feel. I’m going to ignore query and their comments.

BTW, I didn't mean to completely discount the cost of new skates. I'm trying to budget for them myself. But you also should compare that to the potential costs of injury caused by badly fitting skates due to breakdown, or skates that no longer provide the necessary support - both of which the o.p. indicated - it's maybe tolerable. And if you count travel and other costs, and the lessons from which the o.p. maybe doesn't get full benefit because of the issues caused by skates, I would still claim that a good pair of properly fit skates are worth it. I economize on a lot of things. But economizing on some types of sports equipment, like skate boots, can be a false economy.

At least that is the way I see it.

And maybe I need to believe that making one's own insoles, etc., is a good idea, because I've spent a lot of time doing it, and experimenting with different techniques and materials, and discussing them with other people who have found their own techniques.
My skates do fit properly they are just 6 years old and have been well used. And yes the bottom part is wood. I have seal it. I also don’t like having soles in my boots and I don’t have slippage because my boots were fitted properly by a technician at a skate store. She said I was fine with no insoles if I didn’t like them, they don’t affect my skating with them not being there. I just used tape to cover the rivvets and nails so I didn’t get stuck by them or tear in my tights.

BTW my feet do not noticeably sweat inside skates.

The fact that I was able to temporarilly use cardboard insoles, doesn't mean that someone whose feet sweat more could. If uncoated cardboard became wet, maybe it would fall apart very quickly.

Ok don’t know where that came from but I never mentioned my feet being sweaty at all. I prefer to not have insoles what’s the big deal. As long as I’m not getting hurt from it I’m fine and I was also fitted without the insoles and my skate technician who is a well known skater around my areas and coaches now said I didn’t need them if I don’t like them and we fitted my skates perfectly without them. So please stop egging on that I need insoles and spouting random stuff.

But, but, but ... wait! Before making such a critical decision, shouldn't you consult your chauffeur first?

And a few kids with busy parents are driven by paid chauffeurs, or someone may be paid to travel with them to hotels, especially now that USFS doesn't let a kid stay in a room with their coach. Of course, one typically has to put up the coach in a hotel room too.

Happy Thanksgiving, Everyone (US or not)! Special nod to those serving as chauffeurs today (paid or not).

I dont have a chauffeur, im 19 almost 20. I can drive myself around to where I go and I’m no longer in a program so I dont compete which I never competed before too. I just participated in a one day a week lesson in my home town like 5 minutes from my house and then once a year for two days we had a ice shoe program where we preformed to songs like you would at competitions. USFS doesn’t usually compete and my town was too little and didn’t give more than one night a week from 5-10 for lessons and only one ice rink, so it’s not like all of you guys where you have more things.

He was joking. @tstop4me is a good person, and can give great information on fixing boots etc if and when needed. He was joking around.

I just sent a DM to you saying the same thing, that this was a joke and would be enjoyed by the thousands of skaters who haul their rolling skate bags to the rink by public transportation or are driven by weary parents (older SIL Diana in my case ) while they do their homework in the car, until they're old enough to drive themselves.
