I kind of get that. But they have to realize that where it has worked for his SP (and wonderfully well for S/H), she hasn't done good work on his LPs. I fear that her success with S/H is painting their view. His PCS in his short has (deservedly) improved, but I think he's carrying his PCS in his LP based on his strength in technical skills, his SP, and of course his constant improvement over the past two years, instead of his being given good LPs.

TL;DR Poster can dream /shrug

Well, Yuzu keeps reminding the world that the one who pushed the field with his gigantic 4Lz was not N.C. Let's hope it sinks in people's mind

That’s why he needs a hype trailer! [emoji23]

And maaaaybe someone to stand by the boards at his eye-level with a “No 4Lz Zone” sign so he doesn’t crash.

Great interview. Boyang is so fortunate to have coaches who have been with him for so long. It's also amazing that he has managed to pretty much stay injury free up until this season, given the challenging jumps that are in his arsenal. I wonder what Lori Nichol will have "up her sleeve" for him as far as new programs for next year.

Hopefully something better than the last 2 LP she gave him :slink: His SP though have been great!

I would assume that the Federation chooses his choreographers, and Lori seems to be their "go to" person.

Lori and David Wilson. Lori seems to always get the #1 ranked skaters though but maybe they can try David for the LP next year :slink:

Might want to get started on that hype video  I'm looking forward to it

It'll be interesting to see what decisions they make. In my mind, I automatically thought of Lori for Sui/Han and Boyang. David Wilson might be able to bring out a different side of him though. It would probably be good for him.

https://twitter.com/BoyangFanpage/status/969453378618122240 Boyang's SNS content is GOLD. Dorky dance of the year award. :points:

Okay, that smile and off-the-meter dorkiness is a basket of kittens in human form. Made my day.

As for programs... kind of wonder how things will shake out depending on what rule changes are implemented. Free skate is supposed to lose time, for one, which may be a net positive for Boyang. Backhalf bonuses potentially being limited is another, as some skaters’ layouts are so min-maxed there’s no reason to deviate unless it’s to add more difficult content in the front, which means you’re just changing the choreo and not designing a program from the ground up. So how “recycled” Boyang’s material ends up being ... eh, I’m being optimistic again, aren’t I?

At the very least, please not two programs set to soundtracks. There are ways to be modern without going for film scores.

Also, he should do an Ina Bauer into 3A and spread eagle out, in LPs. Easy way to get that TR mark, and he can probably do it. I've heard he has a difficult entry into his 3A in his SPs, so I'm assuming it's the same for his LP? Maybe he can replace it once?

(Sorry, just don't know why practically everyone doesn't already do it.)

Maybe he doesn’t feel as comfortable with the 3A and there’s a conscious choice to avoid forcing transitions there? Best excuse I can come up with as general counsel to Lucifer. Not sure either. Might also be a fear of xcopying Hanyu and coming out looking worse for the attempt, which would be dumb if true.

I wonder if what we see as the obvious gets overlooked due to conserving/planning energy expenditures in the free, since he has those enormous jumps and that 4Lz that covers half the rink. Part of what I dislike so much about the SW program is how it doesn’t flow so much as it’s segmented into “you will use this much energy here, leaving you with just enough to complete the step sequence where you’ll recover in time for...” — you know what I mean? It feels heavily segmented even when it’s performed flawlessly. He could make the revision suggested and get the PCS jump for it, but I sometimes get the sense that’s not how his team thinks about improving his artistry.
