Boyang Jin | Page 16 | Golden Skate

Boyang Jin

I think the SP is really good, it has a great potential and public really liked it. As per jumps- perhaps falls were caused by jetlag? His axis was sooooooo wrong I was really surprised. Actually if he does his LP clean then he can really get a medal because how much is there to catch up- 17 points? It's like one successful 4Lz+3T for him. Piece of cake.

Most definitely jet lag. Looking at the practice sessions, barely any quads were practiced, the success rates were pretty low when he did one. Either that, and/or the curse of the second season after a breakthrough year.

Yes, we in the audience loved it. When he started shimmying in front of the audience, that section lost.....their.....minds!!!! The same with his shooting spiderwebs. Everyone loved it. Like I totally forgot about the jump errors and just enjoyed the program. Loved his costume too.

Maybe tonight he was just nervous because he had no problem landing all his jumps in all the practice sections and right before he started skating he landed a nice 3a :confused2: Oh well, just a bad day at the office. The most important thing for me is that he did not give up on the performance. He sold that program all the way to the nosebleed seats!

 I'm so happy reading this!

I've been gushing all over the Men's SP thread, and I have no intention to stop it. This is SP really brings out how much of a natural performer Boyang is and just how much fun he has on the ice. It's such a happy-dance-can't-stop-smiling-rescuing-you-from-your-bad-moody-days kind of routine :)

I have all my fingers crossed that he'll pull up to get a medal in the LP, but even if not... even if he misses the GPF, IMO he's doing the right thing (although it would make me feel sorry for the GPF audience!). His SP has so much more going on in terms of choreography, it's understandable if he has more trouble landing his jumps for now. But he'll get used to it, and then he'll land the jumps again, and then this will be one heck of a routine. With a really high BV and - in my opinion - 100% deservedly good PCS (hopefully... you better, judges :p ).
Now I'm even happier again to go to worlds! Yippiiiiiiiiiieeeeeeee!!! :hap93::hap93::hap93:

Just to report live from the arena, my side of the arena (judges side) just ate up all that silly choreo he was serving!!! Loved it and so did the crowd! The ladies sitting next to me thought he was adorable

Plus he's getting great reviews on FSU!

Thank you very much for the live report! :)

And yes, he is undeniably adorable :luv17:

I enjoyed it too. I usually do not enjoy that music anymore... it is used so much, but he was really engaging, despite his errors. More of a complete program than last year, so no surprise he had trouble. It will improve for sure.

with this first result, his participation in the final is very much in doubt...

Strangely, I don't mind, as a fan. He's got a lot to work on, improving his ss/artistry and combining it with the technical. It'll remind him he has a ways to go from becoming a top skater.

well, I'm being selfish, I want to see him in Marseille.... and it just kicked in that it would be difficult.

I need to see his cleanly SP someday. I loved the SP already
I love the Spiderman too!
Is it even possible for him to make the GPF? As his next GP will be COC, which will be hard to win anyways (against Hanyu and Patrick), but let's say he makes it and places 1 there - is 5+1 good enough for the FInal?

^^ Yuzuru won't be at CoC but Patrick will be. Han Yan will also skate. Either way CoC is a tough field. It will be good if Boyang wins that event though I'm not sure if it'll suffice to qualify him for the finals. :scratch2:

Hanyu is not competing at CoC, he should try to beat Patrick and then wait for the miracle maybe 1/5 can get him to finals, men field is not consistent especially after all those QUADZ . I liked his SP a lot andgreat to see him trying transitions, for now it will be hella difficult for him to pull off cleanish programs as these programs are no way close to what he had last year, but I respect him for throwing such challenge to himself. :agree:

Gotta love him for this. :o: Well, even if he doesn't make it to GPF this year, he can focus on improving aspects of his skating that are lacking, and return the next better. :hap10:

okay, somehow I thought Hanyu would be there :scratch2: That makes CoC it a lot easier to win ;) I think who will definetly be at GPF is: Hanyu, Fernandez, Chan, Shoma - That's 4 spots already taken, leaves two for: Boyang (5), Adam(3), Jason(2), Voronov (4), Murakami, Mura, Misha Ge, Grant Hochstein, Han yan, Nathan Chen.

Let's say the podium at SC will be: (1. Hanyu, 2. Chan), 3. Han Yan/ Mura
luckily Voronov will not participate in Rostelecom, instead we have: (1. Fernandez, 2. Shoma) 3. Aaron/Kolyada
at TEB: Fernandez and then it there's a lot of room for speculation between: Nathan, Adam, Mura, Misha
at NHK we have: (Hanyu), Nathan, Jason, Grant, Kolyada.
My guess is, that Nathan will make it to the GPF. Then most likely Mura (2. + 3.) or Jason (2. + 3.) or Adam (3. + 2., if TEB place him above Nathan). So, we need Kolyada to beat Jason at NHK, Han yan to beat Mura at SC, Mura to beat Adam at TEB, then there's the slightest chance for Boyang to get into the GPF if he ups his total score at CoC. Phew, that's a lot of ifs and not too probable

Thanks to Denis Ten.
Boyang still has chance to final.
But he has to win gold at COC against Patrick Chan.

My guess is that Jin has been working hard since SA. He was having a rough go of it with his jumps in his programs and in the practices too. Loved the Spiderman program and can't wait to see it again at CoC. Should be quite an exciting competition.

Really hoping Boyang wins CoC and make GPF!

He still trains in China right? So at least there is no jet lag this time?
