I'm kind of in love with his star war's program. Seriously.
(But I think I'm the only one.)
Awww. I don't mind it, and it certainly looked better than it did at Chinese Grand Prix, but I just can't help but think it needs some intervention - whether it's choreography or music. It's not quite an Olympic program in my mind, but hopefully he can prove otherwise by the time February rolls around!
Here's a few photos I took of Boyang at Finlandia Trophy a few weekes ago.
Scores were pretty close, about 4 points separating the top 4 - all of whom attempted 4Lz.
But Boyang won - with The Original And Best 4Lz!
(Personally, I think the current quad "arms race" is the direct result of Boyang's amazing and magnificent 4Lz. He showed the skating world that not only was 4Lz possible, but it could be performed beautifully and consistently. Once people saw that, once the "belief" was there... it became a case of "well, if Boyang can do it, then why can't I do it too?!" His technique was doubtless studied meticulously by coaches and skaters alike... and of course once 4Lz is a real posssibility, then all the other quads must be too! Now we have Jin, Kolyada, Chen, Zhou, Aliev, Samarin, Hanyu attempting 4Lz in competitions - and I'm probably missing several others. It's no longer shocking to see 3 or more men attempting 4Lz in a single competition! And of course many others are also landing or attempting 4L and 4F now too of course).
Anyway. Looking forward to seeing Boyang at Cup of China this coming weekend!

I agree. All of a sudden there are so much quad Lutzes in the field and if it hadn't been for Boyang textbook quad Lutz to study on I doubt many of them would be able to do it.

Not sure if it has been posted somewhere on GS so far, but Boyang is taking out the 4Lz for the SP. Going for 4T, 3A, 3Lz3T.
I'm starting to get worried, given the talk about an ankle injury at CoC. This GP series needs to end, fast :sad21:

I feel relieved that Boyang is skipping the GPF. It was unbelievable that he managed to skate as well as he did at SA with TWO sprained ankles! (Can you imagine?)
Hoping he is getting the best treatment possible and comes back stronger than ever.

Thank you very much! Glad someone is visiting this page as well and keeping an eye out for our 'Boyang man'. Just wish he has kept his 'Spiderman' SP routine. So many skaters are reusing old routines or keeping an SP or LP. That includes the pairs too. So, nothing wrong for Spidy keeping his routine.

I like him, but he needs to work on his SS more.
