Boyang Jin | Page 40 | Golden Skate

Boyang Jin

This boy is talented. Am I seeing a new haircut? By the way, what's with the earring? Have to say I am unsure about the earring. Just don't know.

Yea I think it's a new haircut and I believe he had the earring since he was a little boy. He had this gigantic hoop earring in this news broadcast he was on when he was in juniors. I think it suits him.

Anyone know of any video of him in practices? I want him to get silver at Worlds and my thirst for Boyang's wonderful skating must be quenched

 You make a good point. I'm rooting for Shoma, but also for Boyang. I was heartbroken when he was ousted from the podium at the Olympics, even though I was happy for Javier.

Thank you thank you!

I like Shoma myself, but Boyang has improved so much in the last year that it’s honestly a bit mind-boggling. The skating skills have always been there, and, in the words of Kurt Browning, “I worship that 4Lz.” What really sealed it for me was how much Boyang has added to his short over the season; he’s actually made it richer over time, not taken away choreo to make it more consistent. So I’d love to see him take first at Worlds, assuming he delivers two clean skates, as he’s typically criminally undermarked despite taking the hard road to genuine improvement. And, man, has it ever paid off.

(Seriously, if you’d told me a year ago that Boyang’s OWG short would give me chills, I would have told you that you weren’t sober.)

I’m in complete agreement! I saw him at Skate America this season and was shocked to learn after his short program that he was skating injured, too. The guy pushes through. I don’t necessarily support that, but it shows his determination, and I couldn’t tell at all that he was hurting, so it also shows his grade and ease on the ice. I wouldn’t be hurt at all if he took the World title. He would wholeheartedly deserve it.

With Shoma's injured right foot, this is the chance for Boyang to take

Sigh. Well he's only 6 points out of gold. Don't know if it will happen with Nathan's possible 5/6 quads. Is there anyway to convince him not to push those quads so darn close to the boards? A carrot did him in :sad4:

Thank you all for posting!!

Just saw the results.........grr......:(....why is Boyang 4th? How was his skate compared to the rest? Expected Nathan to be 1st since judges seem to turn a blind eye on the rest of his skating.

And yes, following the discussion here, I would like Boyang to take Gold, it is possible.

Others had uncalled URs.

No point bothering discussing who.

Thanks Chopinskate. No worries, I think I have an idea who has the URs (not that hard to figure out if one has been following the GPs, etc). Boyang just have to skate clean and land those 4 quads clean for the FS to be on the podium. Right now Boyang boy is 6 points behind the 1st place after the Short. If he can repeat what he did at the last World Champs where he was the only skater to do 2 clean programs, he will be on the podium. Go Boyangman!! We have faith in you !!

For vindication: here is someone on twitter with a better angle on Boyang 4T. The jump is borderline, but visibly less so than Vincent's lutz which is the most egregious uncalled jump of the event.

I was so upset by Boyang's placement that I forgot to congratulate him here for another brilliant skate! He's putting so much effort in his presentation and it shows. Thanks for skating, and for being awesome.
Those judges are nuts. :dev2:
:cheer: Shake it off and skate lights-out in the Free.
